Incorporated in 1955 and encompassing more than 454 acres, the Mt. Prospect Park District provides outstanding recreational programs, events, parks, facilities and services. With seven primary facilities and 27 neighborhood parks, the Park District is an integral part of a thriving multi-generational community. District open space includes two outdoor pools, biking and walking paths, a dog park and sizable space for outdoor athletic programming. The District covers over 11 square miles and serves a region of over a quarter million residents in Mount Prospect and surrounding communities. The Mt. Prospect Park District is a proud recipient of the 2026 Illinois Parks and Recreation Association Exceptional Workplace Award! 


We are searching for a part-time Golf Course Shift Supervisor. The Mt. Prospect Golf Club Golf Shift Supervisor is responsible for the customer service in daily golf operations. Duties include opening and closing the facility, point of sale procedures for the golf shop, merchandising, and coordination of tournaments, outings, and special events. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver's license, and be able to successfully pass a criminal background check. 


The course is open 7 days a week and holidays from 6 am to dusk. The Golf Shift Supervisor can expect to average under 30 hours per week, including nights, weekends and holidays. Your work schedule may vary, and your workweek may exceed 40 hours at times, but will be less than 1,000 hours per year.  The candidate must be able to work additional hours when necessary.  The position runs from March through November. The starting pay for the part-time Golf Course Shift Supervisor is $16.00 per hour. Plus, we offer park district facility discounts and usage benefits. 

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Perform golf operations duties including but not limited to the collection of all fees and pass sales, controlling the pace of play and enforcing the rules and procedures. Direct seasonal golf staff during shift.


Perform opening and closing duties of the golf facility including early mornings, nights, on the weekend and on holidays.  


Check in golfers, facilitate league coordination, answer phones, troubleshoot customer issues, and prepare the cash drawer for morning staff.


Oversee seasonal golf staff in daily operations when necessary.


Be proficient in the computer system and Park District point of sale procedures and policies. 


Maintain golf course tee sheet database.


Assist in planning club events.


Be proficient with all Park District policies and procedures.


Use Google Workspace to create word processing and spreadsheets when necessary.


Monitor inventory and recommend purchase of all golf and recreation supplies.


Attend golf staff meetings.


Communicate issues of importance to the Director of Golf or to the Golf Operations Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.


Must have a minimum of two years of experience in golf course or recreation operations. Must be well-organized, possess customer service skills and be able to handle multi-faceted projects.  


Must be able to work additional hours when necessary.  Must be able to work days, early mornings, nights, on the weekend and on holidays.


Must have prior experience in working with point-of-sale computers and have experience using Google Workspace.  


Must be able to communicate effectively with others to allow for coordination of work, safety and in emergency situations if needed. 


Must be able to recognize unsafe conditions and respond accordingly.


Must adhere to all Park District policies.


Must be able to lift and/or move water jugs and baskets of golf balls weighing between 35-50 pounds each.


Must be able to walk up and down a 25% grade.


Must be able to talk and see (both near and far).  Must be able to stand, sit and/or walk for long periods of time. 


May be exposed to air conditioning while indoors. When outdoors, may be exposed to outdoor temperatures and conditions, including exposure to the sun, heat, cold, high humidity, wind and rain.  


SCHEDULING: 

This is a part-time seasonal position, which typically begins in March and generally ends around November 30th, possibly sooner or later based on weather and the needs of the business. The course is open 7 days a week and holidays from 6 am to dusk. The Golf Shift Supervisor can expect to average under 30 hours per week, including nights, weekends and holidays. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function of the Golf Shift Supervisor position.


Due to the needs of the Park District, evening and weekend hours are required.  Your work schedule may vary, and your workweek may exceed 40 hours at times, but will be less than 1,000 hours per year.
