Responsibilities

Install, maintain, move, repair and service equipment and machinery throughout the Foundry, Manufacturing division, and Depot, and some in the Power Plant.                                                                                                                                

Plan and layout details of equipment or project in accordance with general plan of construction and installation prepared by plant engineering, immediate supervision, and manufacturer of equipment.

Set up and separate bench or stand grinder, radial and bench drill presses, hydraulic, bolt threader, racks, bins, conveyor, etc.                                                                        

Re-assemble parts and units, attach and fasten parts and units to equipment, machine frame or member, and completely re-assemble unit.

Install, check, anchor and test completed project, new machine, or a complete systems or unit.                                                       

Perform other related or similar duties as required.

Qualifications

Medium to heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, climbing and above ground work.  Exposure to dust, dirt, grease, oil and coolant.                                                                                 

Has served a bonafide apprenticeship and has a certificate which substantiates his claim of such service, or has eight (8) or more years of practical experience and can substantiate it with proper proof, or has a UAW journeyman's card, which shall be considered as presumptive proof of qualifications, or has a journeyman's card from any other union which has apprenticeship standards comparable to the UAW.

Equivalent knowledge and similar or related experience to install, maintain, repair, and service complex, extensive, heavy, and large apparatus, equipment, and machinery, involving electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic devices, mechanisms and units; rig and move large or heavy equipment safely and with minimum interference to production; fit and assemble repair parts to obtain proper operation of equipment and machines; use simple machine tools, various hand tools, and portable power tools; understand and use of drawings, shop mathematics, and engineering specifications.
