Job Title: Electrical Commissioning Field Service TechnicianLocation: Cedar Rapids, IA

TDS provides mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control construction, testing, and start-up and commissioning services to the Power Generation, Oil & Gas/ Petrochemical, Heavy Process, and other Industrial end markets.


We are a dynamic and rapidly growing company in search of highly skilled Electrical Commissioning Field Service Technicians to join our team to support a large Data Center project in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa area.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing the necessary Acceptance Testing for electrical equipment within Data Center Facilities. 
  • Safely use hand and power tools, metering & testing equipment, and precision instruments.
  • Collaborate with internal team members & customers/ end-users to complete projects within defined timelines.
  • Follow safety protocols and adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Qualifications:

  • Expertise in switchgear maintenance, troubleshooting, and breaker installation.
  • Strong electrical aptitude, understanding of power systems and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of LDL, L2, L3 inspections and testing procedures.
  • Proficiency in secondary injection testing of breakers and PT/CT wiring installations.
  • Familiarity with bus installations, meter configurations, and control wiring.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with testing and maintenance tools (multimeters, megohmmeters, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and providing technical support.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues and provide timely resolutions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with daily reporting and documentation of work performed.
  • Willingness to travel to various project sites within the U.S.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5+ years of experience in switchgear installation, testing, and maintenance, preferably in industrial, utility, and/ or data center environments.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific electrical code, regulations, and related safety standards/ protocols (OSHA, NFPA 70E).

Location(s): Cedar Rapids, IA area

Duration: 18-24+ months (could extend)

Per Diem: Yes, Provided ($178/day x 7 days per week)

Mob/ Demob: Yes, $1000/each way 

Schedule: Full-time Monday - Friday (5-10's) + Additional O/T.

Pay-rate: Based Upon level of Expertise.

Overtime: Yes

Start Date: Immediately (May 2026)
