Join Our Team as an Assembler Welder at Epiroc!
The Assembler Welder performs all required welding and assigned station assembly operations on drilling rigs following standard and quality assurance methods and within company safety guidelines.

Shift Timings:
Monday - Friday from 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Weld components using blueprints
  • Plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, or other written specifications
  • Install and connect hydraulic controls, pumps, rams, and other system elements
  • Mount, hook-up and connect engines, gear boxes, axles and other power components and units
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the assembly area
  • Detect and report defective materials, faulty operation, and unusual conditions to immediate Supervisor
  • Select materials and processes to be applied
  • Set up and adjust equipment
  • Weld, in vertical, horizontal, flat, and overhead positions to make items of various sizes and shapes
  • Brazes, flame-cuts, beads, heat treats, pressure, and tack welds
  • Use hand and power tools of the welding trade
  • When necessary, use templates in measuring, marking, scribing, and cutting
  • Follow prescribed safety regulations / guidelines
  • Maintain work related records and reports
  • Perform other duties as required or directed

OCCASIONAL JOB DUTIES
  • Train new hires
  • Complete appropriate paperwork for rejected parts
  • Return leftover parts to Warehouse
  • Chase parts and fill in necessary paperwork

PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
  • Required to read, write and comprehend English
  • Use and comprehend specifications, blueprints, and schematics
  • Knowledge of all mechanical components on the rig and their ideal operation
  • Overall knowledge of product line
  • Familiar with handling welding and assembly tools
  • Basic understanding of troubleshooting principles
  • Knowledge of MFG Pro preferred

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • The training period for this position:
    • Six months to a year
  • Prior Positions/Training:
    • Must pass the welding test
    • Two years minimum as a welder preferred
    • Must have training in reading blueprints

REQUIRED PHYSICAL EFFORT
  • Moderate physical demand in handling materials and tools while performing welding, assembly and related operations.
  • May be required to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Work also involves climbing up to 4-6 feet using ladders.

Working Conditions:
  • Some exposure to dirt, oil, and other shop elements

Responsibility for Equipment / Process / Material / Product:
  • Handles equipment such as welding machines, torches, grinders, cranes and air impacts
  • Large damage amounts if equipment is improperly handled
  • Incorrect assembly can also result in a large loss amount requiring rework and other actions
