Job description

The HSE Superintendent is responsible for the effective implementation of HSE management system (MS), standards, policies, and processes for assigned rigs; drives ownership, responsibility and accountability for HSE culture; communicates effectively to drive consistent implementation and compliance to the HSE MS, real-time tracking and trending of HSE leading and lagging indicators for short and long term strategic planning; champions HSE to continuously drive Target Zero.

THIS POSITION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR NISKU AND SURROUNDING AREA HSE OPERATIONS - TRAVEL IS REQUIRED

Essential Job Functions:

  • Demonstrates a commitment to the Companies safety standards, policies, and procedures
  • Proficient knowledge in OH&S regulations, PWS standards, and industry best practices
  • Provide technical and regulatory HSE Support and make recommendations for effective compliance
  • Demonstrate active leadership and commitment through role modeling and coaching managers, supervisors and crews
  • Ensure critical processes are assessed and controlled
  • Ensure core HSE fundamentals (Risk and hazard assessment, Observations, Step Back and Stop Work, Incident Investigation/Management) are implemented, monitored, reviewed and discussed
  • Regularly monitor and discuss real-time HSE performance and advise the business to proactively identify and address gaps
  • Facilitate and participate in hazard and risk assessments
  • Conduct regular hazard hunts with crews and compile summary and action items
  • Conduct regular rig visits to coach and facilitate implementation of HSE Standards and Policies
  • Assist and monitor compliance with SSE process
  • Engage and Support incident investigations with proper identification of root cause and corrective actions
  • Ensure all HSE incidents including near misses and stop works are reported timely
  • Identify, evaluate, and verify the use of required HSE controls and PPE
  • Ensure all employees have completed required HSE Training per the training matrix
  • Ensures Emergency Response Systems and Plans are implemented and assist as directed; ensure and participate in required drills
  • Assist with implementation of customer bridging documents as required

This role is required to react to change productively and to undertake other tasks as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • 85% will be field based
  • 15% office based
  • Working outdoors in various temperatures and elements
  • Rotating on-call schedule

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 10 years cumulative experience in Oil and gas Industry, service rigs preferred
  • Computer Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
  • Critical thinking capabilities: data and analytics
  • Ability to work effectively in high pressure and/or critical situations
  • Ability and willingness to work in a variety of inclement weather
  • Previous experience in coaching and mentoring others
  • High Level of Personal Integrity and ethics

Education and Experience:

  • Safety Tickets: H2S, First Aid, WHIMS, Fall Arrest, Rig Rescue
  • Grade 12 or GED
  • Preference will be given to a candidate with 5 years or more in a wellsite leadership position as either a Driller and/or Rig Manager

Precision Well Servicing is responsible for well completions, workovers, and abandonments. We use a variety of service rigs that are suited to each scope of work. The wells are located in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin which includes Northern BC, Northwest Territories, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
