Senior Electrical Engineer (Oil & Gas)About the PositionAs a Senior Electrical Engineer in the Oil & Gas group, you will be responsible for performing engineering design and analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer in a manner that provides the client with a quality deliverable that is on time and within budget.Salary Range: $125,000 - $175,000 / yearThe salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.This opportunity is only available to candidates located within the Odessa/Midland, TX area. Candidates can work remotely from this geographical location.Essential ResponsibilitiesPerform detailed design of all aspects of electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, general arrangement, selection of equipment, writing of equipment specifications, project and construction cost estimates, and project scheduling as they relate to Substations and other power projectsPrepare computer-based models and perform power system studies on utility and industrial/commercial electrical power transmission and distribution systems, including short circuit, load flow, relay coordination, arc flash, motor starting, power factor, harmonic analysis and other related studies. Employee should create a simple hand check to quantify the computer aided results.Develop protective relay settings. Set, test, wire, and install relaying and control systems.Prepare a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, proposals, and studies.Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) as well as other commissioning activitiesProvide occasional field assistance and troubleshootingChecking the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy as requiredAssists with client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and meetings in-person and remotelySupports business development via Seller-Doer, assists with marketing tasks, and prepares proposals as neededAssists with establishing and managing engineering budget and scope expectations.Prepare technical write-up for applicable change ordersReviews submittals for conformance with client specifications and designAttends safety training and follow safety rules and guidelinesWorks additional time beyond 40 hours/week to complete projects, proposals and/or administrative functions, as requiredMaintains strong and responsive Company-Client relationships, particularly for communication pertaining to specific assignments and meeting topicsAttends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of workMaintains high ethical and professional standards while showing strong judgementMaintains professional understanding of all applicable Codes and Standards, and construction practicesReviews and verifies the work of engineers, designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracyProvides field assistance, troubleshooting, and observation reportsChecking the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy as requiredOther duties as assignedMust HaveEducation: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferredExperience: 7+ years of relevant engineering or field experienceLicensure: FE is required; PE preferredKnowledge and familiarity with medium and low voltage distributionBase knowledge of Protection & Control SchemesKnowledge and familiarity with substation electrical designProficiency with power system studies software such as PSSE, PSCAD, ETAP, SKMPrevious experience coordinating and managing projects with key clients, customers, contractors and othersFamiliarity with the Oil & Gas market sectorAssist with client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and meetings both remotely and in-personPossesses effective written and oral communications skillsGood interpersonal and people skillsSelf-starter with strong initiativeApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basisWorking ConditionsWork Environment:Work is performed in an office setting and some field work is also requiredTravel:Typical: 15 – 25%Physical Activities:Managerial Responsibilities:Must be able to lift 25lbs.Team Member is responsible for managing their own work schedule with input from their supervisor and completing assigned tasks.Team Member should identify discrepancies in assigned work and bring to attention of supervisor or engineer responsible for the project in a timely manner.
