Project Manager – Oil & Gas / Engineering Projects

Overview:

The Project Manager leads multiple small to mid‑size oil & gas engineering projects from initiation through final delivery. This position blends project management, client engagement, and technical oversight, making it well‑suited for someone with strong engineering depth and proven leadership capability.

Core Function:

The Project Manager is accountable for scope, schedule, and budget across several concurrent projects. They guide engineering and design teams (typically 1–5 people) and act as the primary liaison for clients, ensuring high‑quality deliverables and smooth project execution from design through field coordination and closeout.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage engineering projects — Oversee multiple oil & gas projects simultaneously.
  • Lead project planning — Drive execution across scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Direct engineering/design teams — Coordinate workloads and support technical alignment.
  • Engage with clients — Maintain communication, set expectations, and manage deliverables.
  • Review technical work — Ensure compliance with engineering standards and project requirements.
  • Support field activities — Participate in site visits and field coordination (approx. 25–50% travel).
  • Manage risks and changes — Maintain documentation and proactively address project challenges.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ years of combined engineering and project management experience.
  • Direct oil & gas project execution experience (required).
  • Engineering degree preferred.
  • Comfortable working in both office and field/client environments.
  • Strong communication and client‑facing skills.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong oil & gas experience with understanding of design, field execution, and client review cycles.
  • A technical foundation, ideally as an engineer or former engineer, with the ability to communicate confidently with clients and internal teams.

Work Environment:

  • Position based in Colorado Springs or Albuquerque.
  • 25–50% travel, depending on project needs.
  • Hybrid mix of office work, client meetings, and occasional field presence.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Colorado Springs, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.87 - $60.00/hr.
