Description
  • TheProject Engineer – Oil & Gasis responsible forthe planning, coordination, technical oversight, andexecutionsupport of engineering projects acrossS&L’soil and gasdivision. This role serves as the primary interface betweenprojectmanagementandengineering disciplines.The project engineering will also work closely withclients,and contractors to ensure that scope,quality,schedule, cost,and safetyobjectivesare achieved from concept development throughpackagesIssuedforConstruction (IFC).

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the development, planning, and execution of oil and gas projects (FEED, detailed design,greenfield,EPCM, brownfield modifications, and debottlenecking).
    • Work with Project management to translate clientRFPs, contracts, and into clear engineering scopesand deliverables.
    • Coordinate multi-discipline engineering activities (process, mechanical, piping, civil/structural, I&C, electrical) to ensure technical alignment,operabilityandconstructability.
    • Support design reviews (model reviews,PFD/P&IDreviews, HAZID/HAZOP/PHA, 3D model reviews) and ensure close-out ofaction itemsand record technical notes during these events.
    • Review and approve engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and data sheets for technical accuracy and compliance with codes, standards, and client requirements.
    • Identify, evaluate, and help mitigate technical and execution risks, including management of change (MOC) processes.
    • Demonstratea commitment to quality andto communicateissuespertaining toquality.
    • Support cost and schedule control by providing engineering input to estimates, progress measurement, and forecasting.
    • Ensure application of HSE and process safety requirements in design and execution,in accordance withcompany, client, and regulatory standards.
    • Contribute to lessons learned capture, continuous improvement initiatives, and standardization of engineering practices and templates.

This position is hybrid with 3 days a week in office in Englewood, CO.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, Civil, Electrical, or related Engineering from anABETaccreditedinstitution.
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in the oil and gas industry (upstream,midstream, LNG, facilities).
  • Demonstrated experience supporting FEED and/or detailed design for onshore or offshore oil and gas facilities (e.g., well pads, pipelines, gas processing, compression, terminals, LNG).
  • Proventrack recordcoordinating multi-discipline engineering on projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience working withinaconsulting engineering environment.
  • 1-2 years of field experience (commissioning, construction support, as-builts,etc).

Required Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of oil and gas facilities and systems, such as:
  • Wellhead and gathering systems, pipelines, and flowlines
  • Including gathering for gas, oil,waterand condensate.
  • Gas processing (dehydration, sweetening, compression, NGL recovery) and oil stabilization
  • Utility and offsite systems (fuel gas, flare, instrument air, power distribution, water systems)
  • Sour gas and CO2 experience is a plus.
  • Ability toread,interpret, and developPFDs, P&IDs, SLDs, 3D models, layouts, isometrics, and equipment drawings.
  • Advanced knowledge base in process, mechanical, andcontrolsengineering, and how each disciplineimpactseach other.Base level knowledge of electrical and structural engineering.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ANSI, NFPA, NEC, NACE, GPSA) and regulatory requirementsaspertaining tothecandidatesengineering discipline.
  • Experienceparticipatingin or supporting HAZID, HAZOP and constructability reviews.
  • Proficiencywith common engineering and project tools, such as:
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint,Project or equivalent)
  • Bluebeam and Adobe.
  • Fundamental understanding of cost estimating, scheduling, and progress measurement from an engineering perspective.
  • Ability to develop and review technical specifications, data sheets, and requisitions for equipment and packaged systems.
  • Proficiencyin thefollowing tasks,no bearing on specific tools used:
  • Sizingcontrolvalves.
  • SizingPSVs.
  • Sizing process and utility piping.
  • Selectinginstrumentation.
  • Developing design basis memorandums.
  • Selecting major mechanical equipment.
  • Sizingpumps.
  • Defining control loops and systems, control narratives.
  • Piping design constraints.
  • Pipe spec development.
  • Generic rules for sizing scrubbers, knockouts,separators, and other basic process equipment.
  • As-builting.
  • Utilizing engineering judgement.

Required Behavioral Competencies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license orEngineer in Training(EIT)is preferred.
  • Experience on brownfield /debottleneckprojects, including working with existing plant tie-ins, andexpansions.
  • Familiarity with simulation and engineering software (e.g.: ProMax,Aspen HYSYS, PIPEPHASE, CAESAR II, ETAP, or similar).
  • Experience with construction, field engineering, and commissioning on oil and gas projects.
  • Prior experience interfacing with regulatory authorities and permitting processesis a plus.
