Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) Operator Machinists are skilled tradespeople who travel to remote worksites, typically in the mining, oil, or gas industries, to operate and maintain machinery. They work on a rotational schedule, flying to the site for a set period (such as two weeks on) and then flying home for time off (such as one week off). Their responsibilities include setting up, operating, and troubleshooting machine tools, as well as performing routine maintenance. FIFO Operator Machinists must adapt to challenging environments and often work long shifts while on site.
