Summary

The Document Control Manager is responsible for all facets of document control on an assigned job. S/he implements policies and procedures that ensure that the documents are properly stored and easily accessible. Interfaces with engineering and quality control and other technical departments to ensure that all functional requirements are met.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Document Control Manager will perform the following duties in a safe, productive, and effective manner:

  • Controls applicable quality assurance documentation generated, assembled, and maintained for a specific project
  • Reviews all records for legibility, completeness, traceability to the item, and conformance to specified acceptance standards
  • Responsible for receiving, maintaining, and distributing a variety of secure records, such as contract documents, procedures, drawings, instructions, and construction documents, including their revisions
  • Develops and maintain various logs and reports, including Customer Purchase Orders
  • Maintains a log sheet for all controlled copies of the Quality Assurance Manual
  • Responsible for providing records of all transmittals and returns from the customer and obtaining and documenting approval and comment transactions
  • Issues the approved Work Package
  • Controls access to secure records
  • Supervises, trains, evaluates, and develops direct report(s) to ensure maximum returns on investment
  • Addresses complaints appropriately
  • Provides guidance, direction, coaching, and support to direct reports to maximize individual and overall department performance
  • Responsible for holding timely performance appraisals and progress reviews
  • Assists direct reports in developing short and long-term goals that align with department and Company mission and strategy
  • Ensures direct reports receive appropriate training that aligns with career development plans. Training may be remedial, ‘maintenance’, or geared to promotion.
  • Takes appropriate action to develop direct reports including, but not limited to, preparing and monitoring career development plans, promotions, demotions, lateral moves, corrective action, and progressive discipline
  • Recommends appropriate compensation
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the civil discipline
  • Must have knowledge of the general structure of quality assurance programs, especially of document control procedures and systems under those programs
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge with applicable Quality codes and standards and NRC regulations
  • Quality assurance experience in the nuclear power industry (DOE/DOD facilities) preferred
  • Must have knowledge of regulatory requirements and understanding of 10CFR50, App. B, ASME NQA-1 and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections II, V, and IX.
  • Knowledge of construction practices (i.e., formwork, rebar, concrete placing, etc.) is preferred
  • Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Has a knack for anticipating and predicting probable outcome based on prior experience and “what -it” scenarios

  • Ability to work within a multifunctional team, recognizing and balancing various project needs against individual project requirements
