Job Description:
Continental Tide is seeking a motivated and energetic Project Lead / Site Foreman with AIT (Alteration Installation Team) experience to support ongoing operations in Norfolk, VA. The ideal candidate will make an immediate positive impact by leading technical teams, ensuring quality project execution, and serving as a critical link between senior leadership and the project workforce.
Duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Project Planning and Execution: Lead and oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of shipboard HM&E or electronic system projects, ensuring adherence to quality, budget, and timeline requirements.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply in-depth working knowledge of power generation, power transmission, and auxiliary machinery systems to provide technical guidance and ensure project specifications are met.
  • Team Leadership: Lead cross-functional project teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment. Provide mentorship and support to team members as needed.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality assurance processes to guarantee the delivery of high-quality ship systems.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and upcoming milestones.

Experience and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in ship repair or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Site Foreman or similar role in AIT ship repair.
  • Knowledge of shipboard systems and equipment.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel and work in various locations as required.
  • Targeted Five (5) to Seven (7) years previous experience overseeing and directing 'Project-Level' initiatives.
  • Proven ability to lead a ten (10) to fifteen (15) tradesperson Alteration Installation Team (AIT).
  • Experience in directing daily production to attain schedule milestones.
  • Knowledge of maintaining QAWB and OQE requirements.
  • Experience communicating directly with management, subcontractors, and customers regarding project cost, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Background in preparing status reports and ensuring plans adhere to contract specifications.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of ship alteration/installation processes and procedures
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and deliver projects on time and within.

Security Requirements:
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance to access military facilities, naval shipyards, private shipyards, and Naval installations.
  • Due to export control regulations, this role is open to U.S. citizens only.

Travel Requirements:
  • Occasional Travel- up to 10% within and outside of the continental United States.
  • If a position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
  • Exposure to open-air environments.
  • Required to visit project sites aboard ships and rigs, both onshore and offshore.
  • Wear various types of personal protective equipment (PPE), (i.e. ear plugs, safety glasses, hard-hat, steel-toed boots, gloves) as required.
  • Site visits may involve standing on a variety of surfaces and angles, bending, crouching, and climbing over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge or boat structural components.
  • Exposure to sound levels exceeding 100 decibels.
  • Must possess sufficient visual acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and night vision to inspect marine components and systems, identify defects or irregularities, and safely operate tools and equipment.
  • May work in confined spaces with limited ventilation.
  • Require prolonged periods of sedentary work, including sitting and/or standing.
  • May be required to operate machinery, power tools, and/or heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively to exchange and comprehend information.
  • Frequent exposure to extreme weather conditions, including high heat and extreme cold.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs. or more, depending on the task requirements.
