Location: Little Creek, Norfolk, VA
Company: Atlantic Wind Transfers (A Division of Rhode Island Fast Ferry)

About Us

Rhode Island Fast Ferry operates high-speed ferry service to Martha's Vineyard and lighthouse cruises on Narragansett Bay. Our commercial division, Atlantic Wind Transfers, supports offshore wind projects along the East Coast with advanced crew transfer vessels.

We're a close-knit, high-energy team that takes pride in safe, reliable operations. Our crews work in fast-paced environments where teamwork, professionalism, and a positive attitude go a long way.

The Role

Atlantic Wind Transfers is seeking a Captain to operate our offshore wind Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) out of Little Creek, VA. This is a full-time, non-rotational positionโ€”candidates must be based locally or willing to relocate. Housing is not provided.

As Captain, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional operation of high-speed crew transfer catamarans supporting offshore wind farm operations. You'll lead your crew, manage day-to-day vessel operations, and serve as the point person onboard, with full support from our shoreside team.

What You'll Do
  • Safely operate high-speed, waterjet-driven crew transfer vessels

  • Lead and manage onboard crew in a professional, team-oriented environment

  • Oversee day-to-day vessel operations, maintenance, and readiness

  • Ensure compliance with all company safety, security, and operational procedures

  • Deliver a high standard of service to offshore wind clients and personnel

  • Maintain vessel logs, reporting, and administrative responsibilities

  • Take ownership of all onboard activity and decision-making

What We're Looking For
  • USCG Master's License (100 GRT or greater)

  • Radar Observer (Unlimited)

  • First Aid / CPR / AED certification

  • Strong radar and vessel handling experience

  • Experience operating high-speed, waterjet-driven catamarans

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform daily vessel maintenance

  • STCW Basic Training (preferred)

  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills

Why Join Us
  • Work on modern, high-performance vessels in the offshore wind industry

  • Be part of a tight-knit, motivated crew that values teamwork and professionalism

  • Fast-paced, hands-on role with real responsibility and autonomy

  • Opportunities to grow with a company operating at the forefront of maritime and renewable energy

Compensation

Competitive pay based on experience (DOE)
