Job description

Position Title: Operator- Secondary Slitting
Shift Schedule: 12 hour rotate/swing
Location: Decatur, AL USA
Starting: $20.50
1 Year: $22.50; top-out at progression year 3--$24.50

Expectations
Personal safety and clear understanding of safety processes and procedures. Monitor and evaluate process variables, sample results and make changes and/ or corrections to maintain optimum control, efficiency and safety. Analyze problems or deviations and insure timely corrective actions are taken.
Responsibility
  • Reading and following work instructions in work group area
  • Produce film products with assigned machine per the run plan
  • Data Entry/ Document control/ Record keeping - Ensuring the data entry for entire process like Raw mat, Down time, Jumbo, properties, slit roll, etc. Monitoring data entry during shift. Data entry for all issued material from stores. Ensuring all the logbooks, checklists and required formats being followed in the shift.
  • Monitoring of production plan in order to execute the activities for pending plans. Feeding of raw material based on product recipe
  • Execute raw material handling, charging and monitoring consumption
  • Preparation of coating solutions as per run plan, monitor the consumption and coating quality along with updating the chemical inventory to Shift Supervisor
  • Removal of dust from dryer dust bin and disposal at designated place including monitoring of dust weight
  • Maintaining EG level in CO-ex vacuum, melt trap cleaning, disposal of chips collected from metal separator
  • Draining and collection of chips in case of any emergency
  • End-to-end waste handling within the shift. Recyclable waste charging in cutting mills and irrecoverable waste disposal at designated place
  • Executing filter changeover process as per written procedure and allocated time period or as and when required
  • Handling the process failures like film break, blade break, and film removal from machine. De-chocking of cutting mills & fluff piping. Lumps removal from dryer and crystallizer. And process mandatory like DLC, vacuum filter change, doctor blade change, roll cleaning. Adjusting the corona gap as and when required and repairing of corona roll puncture
  • Report any machine problems and perform minor machine adjustments & troubleshooting
  • Starting up the line after shutdown and shutting down the line for shut down
  • Participating in shut down planning and performing activities as per shut down plan
  • Perform die and feed block changeover, melt line cleaning, die & feed block cleaning and assembly, screw removal, cleaning and assembly
  • To relieve/ support fellow team members as needed for smooth operation
  • Monitoring and measuring the silo levels, temperatures and speed of the machine, feed load, and the extruder. Ensuring the proper documentation is completed
  • Feeding the grinder for any film breaks and or any cutbacks
  • Clearing cores with the offline grinder
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Inspect jumbo rolls prior to set-up for any defects and correct coding and labels
  • Conduct visual observation while machine is running to prevent any quality defects in the film
  • Complete quality checks per work instructions & SOP's after a roll is completed
  • Participate in analysis of quality related issues to identify root cause and work with appropriate resources to develop and implement solutions and improvements to the process
  • Maintain proper housekeeping of the entire line based on 5S principles
  • Shift communication as per protocol & shift changeovers
  • Participating in daily and monthly safety talk and production meeting with Film Shift Supervisor
  • Comply with OT requirement per the shift schedule and the Overtime Management Procedure
  • Implement, assistance and follow all the requirements under various concepts (5-S, TPM, Integrated management System - ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 & ISO 22000) in work group
  • Maintaining all documents / records per Work Instructions in department area
  • Perform problem solving techniques like Why-Why, Cause & Effect analysis etc. to identify and eliminate root cause of problems
  • Preparing and training on OPLS (one Point Lesson)
  • Executing Condition monitoring as per schedule of all indicators like vibration, temperature, sound, current etc. and performing CBM activities
