Job description

Job Purpose:
Function as a Medical Assistant, Non-Certified or Certified MA in a team and mission-based setting to assist with direct patient care procedures and related tasks, through joint planning and problem solving, assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Adheres to the spirit of Waterfall Community Health Center to remove barriers to care and our mission statement while performing assigned duties.
  • Demonstrate the core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Compassion, Partnership, and Collaborative Communication.
  • Participates in team huddles, work with the team to ensure appropriate pre-visit preparation including culturally and linguistically appropriate services.
  • Completes intake interview for new and returning patients according to established procedure including counseling patients/families on their role, and WCHC's role, in a medical home.
  • Responsible for knowing and following clinical policy and procedure, including documenting all patient interactions in Epic in a manner consistent with professional standards.
  • Performs related duties necessary to ensure quality patient care as requested by supervisor, including addressing barriers when the patient has not met treatment goals.
  • Assists providers with exams of patients or any special procedures as needed.
  • Effectively schedule patients for hospital follow ups, follow up appointments and any other appointments needed by patients.
  • Processes all incoming paperwork including phone calls, refills and MyChart communications from patients, routing as appropriate, and responding in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment while ensuring adherence to OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control regulations.
  • Performs supervised laboratory procedures such as Urinalysis, Strep test, Covid testing, pregnancy testing, etc (Any CLIA approved Point of Care Testing Offered at Waterfall.) as approved by Supervisor or trainer.
  • Assist with patient intake, including obtaining vital signs, medical history, and preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, providing education given by provider, answering questions, and coordinating care efficiently.
  • Processes prior authorizations for medication and procedures in a timely manner
  • Must be flexible to work at any of our locations, including North Bend, Coos Bay, and North Bay clinics, as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Must effectively understand vaccines and needle safety, and properly administer vaccines to patients
  • Accurately take vital signs, and room patients in accordance with Waterfall workflow standards.
  • Performs any other duties needed to help drive our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization's Values as given by supervisor

Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credentials from the National HealthCare Association (NHA) obtained within 1 year of employment.
  • 6 months' healthcare experience, preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR), such as OCHIN EPIC, highly desirable
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention Comprehensive training class completed within 6 months of hire and recertify prior to the expiration date. This training is provided by the employer.
  • BLS certification obtained within 6 months of hire. Responsible for maintaining certification while employed at Waterfall. This certification is provided by the employer.

Immunizations Required:
  • TB (test upon hire)

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting and/or standing at a desk working at a computer.
  • Repetitive use of hand motion, some reaching bending and/or lifting of up to 20 pounds
  • Exposed to sick people

Salary Description
$19.00-$24.84
