Job description

Job title: Off Premise Sales Representative

Reports To: District Manager


Role Perks:

  • Base + Commissions - this role features a 1% commission on sales you generate in addition to the base amount listed in the posting.

Role overview

As an Off Premise Sales Representative at Tryon, you’re not just selling bottles. You’re building lasting relationships and championing the craft behind every beer and wine we distribute. Representing our portfolio in retail chains and club stores, you’ll use your sales know-how and merchandising skills to grow both our footprint and the presence of these exceptional brands. With a passion for craft and a commitment to partnership, you'll be a key part of how we bring great products to the shelves.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Service accounts based on a prescribed cadence in the My Day platform
  • Follow proper store sign-in policies and provide updates to managers and receivers at each call-point
  • Troubleshoot customer issues and provide prompt resolution
  • Merchandise retail accounts to ensure shelves and cold boxes are fully stocked and visually appealing
  • Build and maintain branded displays that support sales goals and seasonal programs
  • Rotate beer to ensure freshness and remove/repair damaged products as needed
  • Dust bottles, check signage and pricing for accuracy, and ensure organized backstock areas
  • Write and enter customer orders for upcoming deliveries within required timeframes
  • Process and communicate credits promptly and accurately when applicable
  • Maintain clear communication with buyers regarding pricing, delivery schedules, and potential delays
  • Conduct regular presentations to buyers featuring goal items, new products, and promotional programs
  • Host or participate in at least one in-store tasting or aisle event per month
  • Deliver product to accounts when needed to support service levels
  • Educate buyers and store staff on our portfolio, focusing on product knowledge and brand stories
  • Attend all required sales meetings and training sessions
  • Complete additional duties as assigned


Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Must be 21 or older
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Outstanding verbal & written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task with minimal errors
  • Must be a team player and work well under minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of safe work practices


PREFERRED

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous sales, merchandising, or pull-up experience
  • Previous food service or distribution experience
  • Intimate knowledge of wine, beer, or the Tryon portfolio
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Previous experience using ERP systems (Encompass preferred)

Working conditions

  • This position requires one’s use of personal vehicle to call on customers. This position will primarily work in the assigned territory in the designated market. 
  • Significant daily travel within territory

Physical requirements

  • Standing, walking, and the use of fine and gross motor skills including but not limited to driving, bending, twisting, and reaching are used continuously
  • Lifting frequently with occasional kneeling, climbing, and squatting
  • Must be able to safely complete 15 or more loads per hour, requiring lifting of up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to safely complete 1-15 loads per hour, requiring lifting of up to 60 lbs.
