Employment Type: Full-Time
Goodwill Southwest Florida is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Retail Book Specialist to support the Books, Media, and Art areas within retail stores and warehouse operations. This role is essential in sorting, organizing, and maintaining high-quality book, media, and art selections while ensuring these departments remain full, clean, and visually appealing. The ideal candidate brings subject-matter interest, strong organizational skills, and a customer-focused mindset while supporting Goodwill's mission of creating opportunities and strengthening the community.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Sort books, media, and art according to established criteria and department guidelines.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and fully stocked Book and/or Art departments.
  • Photograph artwork and generate accurate description cards for display and sale.
  • Assist with merchandising to enhance presentation and customer engagement.
  • Support donation intake, cleaning, and related retail duties as assigned.
  • Provide friendly, professional customer service to internal teams and customers.
  • Work independently while following directions from supervisors.
  • Perform additional duties as instructed to support daily retail operations.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Retail experience, preferably involving books and/or art.
  • In-depth knowledge of book, media, and art categories.
  • Familiarity with best-selling authors and notable artists.
  • Proficiency using computers to generate description cards and conduct research.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical capability to turn, lean, kneel, bend, and perform routine movement tasks.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules based on business needs.
