Job description

Linder Industrial Machinery Company is recognized as one of the nation's premier heavy equipment dealers providing quality new, used and rental equipment across 27 branch locations in Florida, Georgia, Virginia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Linder's commitment to delivering superior industrial machinery solutions is shared by our leading equipment partners such as Komatsu, BOMAG, Deutz Fahr, Atlas, Konecranes, Mantsinen, Superior Brooms, Terramac, and many more.

Position Summary

The Technical Communicator supports Linder Industrial Machinery’s service operations by creating, organizing, and delivering accurate technical information for technicians, service managers, and customers. This role acts as a key communication bridge between Linder branches, OEM partners (including Komatsu and allied product lines), and internal departments to ensure efficient troubleshooting, consistent service practices, and high-quality customer support.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Documentation

- Develop, update, and maintain Linder-specific service documentation, including troubleshooting guides, repair instructions, technical bulletins, and SOPs.

- Translate OEM technical updates, field campaigns, and service news into clear, actionable instructions for Linder technicians.

- Ensure all documents meet Linder standards for clarity, accuracy, branding, and version control.

- Manage documentation libraries within Linder’s internal systems to keep information current and accessible across all branches.

Technical Support & Communication

- Serve as a technical liaison between OEM technical support teams, Linder branches, and field service technicians.

- Assist in resolving and escalating service issues driving use of the Technical Service Request process.

- Communicate product updates, service advisories, and common failure trends to branch personnel.

- Participate in technical calls with OEMs and provide follow-up documentation for internal distribution.

Troubleshooting & Analysis

- Review trends in service cases, warranty claims, Komtrax data, and technician feedback to identify root causes and propose corrective actions.

- Support failure analysis efforts, including documenting findings from component tear-downs or field inspections.

- Verify new or revised service procedures before recommending field implementation.

Training & Knowledge Transfer

- Develop technician training materials, quick reference guides, and visual job aids tailored to Linder equipment lines.

- Support the Service Training team by preparing accurate, up-to-date content for new model introductions and technical courses.

- Assist with onboarding new technicians by providing accessible technical resources and structured guidance.

Cross-Department Collaboration

- Coordinate with Service Managers, Branch Managers, Warranty, Parts, and PSSR teams to ensure service procedures align across the organization.

- Work closely with the Warranty Department to create TSIs that document repair justification and ensure clear submission narratives to Komatsu.

- Provide feedback to Product Support Managers and OEM representatives based on recurring field conditions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical concepts into clear instructions.

- Experience with heavy equipment systems, ideally including Komatsu, BOMAG, DEUTZ-Fahr, or other Linder product lines.

- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and service manuals.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), PDF editing tools, and documentation systems.

- Exceptional organization, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities in a fast-paced service environment.

- Prior experience in a service, technical writing, or equipment support role preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

- Background in heavy equipment, diesel technology, field service, or equipment repair.

- Familiarity with OEM service systems such as KGP, SIS, TSI, or similar.

- Understanding of warranty processes, failure analysis, and service reporting.

- Ability to travel periodically to Linder branches, customer locations and OEM facilities.

Work Environment

- Based at a Linder branch or corporate office with regular interaction across all assigned branch locations.

- Field visits as required to support service operations, equipment evaluations, or training sessions.
