About the Role
American Stone is hiring a full-time Accounting Clerk II to handle payroll processing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, reporting, and day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-paced environment.
Pay: $18 to $24 per hour
This is not an entry-level accounting position. We are looking for someone with strong hands-on accounting experience who is confident handling payroll, AP, AR, reconciliations, invoices, reporting, tax-related documentation, and detailed financial tasks with accuracy and minimal supervision.
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, organized, dependable, proactive, and comfortable working with ERP/accounting systems, spreadsheets, deadlines, and shifting priorities while maintaining accuracy.

This is a primarily on-site position based in Murray, UT. Candidates must currently be located in Utah and available to work in-office as needed. American Stone does not provide relocation assistance for this role.
Responsibilities
  • Handle payroll processing, including Forms 940, 941, W-2, 1099, deductions, garnishments, and state/federal withholdings
  • Prepare and maintain payroll tax reporting, compliance reporting, and accounting-related government documentation
  • Perform and review bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, inventory tracking, and cost reporting
  • Handle accounts payable, invoices, vendor payments, purchase orders, and freight charges using Odoo
  • Handle accounts receivable, billing, and inter-company transactions
  • Enter production and commission data for quarry and sales employees
  • Maintain DOT compliance documentation, driver files, and related records
  • Prepare and maintain payroll taxes, IFTA, MSHA, sales tax, new hire reporting, and additional compliance-related records
  • Communicate with vendors and internal teams to maintain accurate and timely accounting records
  • Assist with onboarding paperwork, document organization, and administrative compliance tasks

Qualifications
Required:
  • Candidates must be willing to provide professional references during the hiring process
  • Associate or bachelor's degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on accounting experience handling payroll, AP, AR, reconciliations, reporting, or financial records
  • Strong payroll processing and payroll tax experience, including Forms 940, 941, W-2, and 1099
  • Experience using ERP/accounting systems such as Odoo, QuickBooks, Peachtree, NetSuite, SAP, or similar systems
  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas, sorting, filtering, spreadsheets, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple accounting tasks accurately
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • Experience with reporting, reconciliations, payroll taxes, and compliance documentation
  • Spanish is a plus
