Job description

Job Summary

The Quality Verification and Inspections Auditor conducts audits in all production and support areas, escalates issues to the operations and supply chain teams, and verifies the solutions are effective. The auditor is responsible for verifying inspections of material and products in all areas, assisting in investigations, and verifying flattening testing and providing information to control affected product. Auditors document all findings and follow up to verify the solutions are effective. The Quality Auditor is the main point of contact for Third Party Inspectors, assists with customers & tours, and training for Management and Supervision. The auditors assist with document creation, review, and updates. This position requires travel.

Main responsibilities

• Conduct audits of production material, machines, processes, documentation, instruments, and people.

• Document findings, escalate issues, and follow up to verify the effectiveness of solutions.

• Verify material and product inspections.

• Conduct and assist with investigations internally and with claims or complaints.

• Document all findings through the effectiveness process.

• Act as liaison and correspondent to third-party inspection agencies.

• Verify the calibrations of instruments on the shop floor are up to date. Notify supervision to exchange broken, expired, or missing gages with properly calibrated replacements.

• Assist with audits, customers, and facility tours.

• Collaborate with operations employees and supervisors in each area by offering feedback, data, and recommendations to help solve problems.

• Perform assessment of stock, as required, and coordinate product disposition with the applicable departments.

• Create, review, and update documents.

• Provide support and guidance for mill flattening testing and assist with final determination for flattening test when there is uncertainty between passing and failing.

• Record suspicious and nonconforming products and communicate this information to the parties responsible to take necessary actions (block, do not release, downgrade, etc.).

• Perform containment analysis on Axis product anytime a non-conforming product is identified. Containment is not limited to on-site product.

• Initiate corrective and preventive actions and OFIs.

• This position requires some travel from local to global.

• Support the team with any other tasks that are assigned

Qualifications

• Must have at least 4 years of experience in a quality function in a metals manufacturing company, or a bachelor’s degree and 1 year of experience.

• A current ASNT Level II certification for UT, ET, and MT, and VT is a plus.

• Must have experience performing internal or external audits. Experience receiving audits is also acceptable.

• Must be able to operate software tools to document and communicate findings and solutions.

• Must show competence to communicate technical information to others verbally and in writing.

• Must have basic mathematical capabilities to understand and execute process and product parameter tolerances, measurement and testing device operation, and mathematical calculations required by API and ASTM standards.


Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods.

• Frequently required to use hands, reach with arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.

• Occasionally required to sit.

• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to work in a manufacturing/industrial environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, varying temperatures, and noise levels.
