Under the direction of a health care provider, responsible for providing direct care to employees and other personnel who become ill and/or are injured on company property as well as pre-employment screening. Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence/Patient Care

• Obtain information to assist provider and referral specialist with patient referrals; complete appropriate forms or requisitions required for referrals or lab testing.

• Assist in case management initiation and follow-up.

• Accurately and promptly implement physicians’ orders.

• Function as a clinician, educator, and resource for patients within their specialty of care and assist providers with office procedures.

• Draw and collect blood and other samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.

• Conduct pulmonary function testing, drug testing, vision testing, hearing testing, immunization delivery and spirometry testing.

• Properly use office and medical equipment such as: computer, spirometer, audiometer, fax machine, multi-stage copiers and telephones.

• Practice reflects knowledge of CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, DOT and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding occupational medicine and healthcare.

• Maintain accurate and confidential employee medical records on computer and written as needed.

• Provide appropriate and timely documentation in the patient’s electronic health record using standardized workflows and processes.

• Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations.

• Telephone triage by providing and documenting advice for home care of illness/condition; conducting follow-up phone calls regarding patient’s health and progress as necessary.

• Collaborates with team to ensure adherence to multiple client protocols and services.

• Clinical setting may include area companies, including coordinating and scheduling of client services and screenings, as well as helping to assess client requests in collaboration with UPHaW leadership.

Development and Patient Education

• Be aware of what is happening in clinic/department and the organization by attending clinic/department meetings, reading emails and regularly checking information on the organization’s intranet site.

• Demonstrate initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations.

• Act as a consultant both within the organization and to outside agencies or groups.

• Perform other duties as requested by leader to facilitate the smooth and effective operations of the office.

• Based on care setting, may develop, present, train, and facilitate educational classes for client companies.

• Partner with colleagues and UPHaW leaders to assess and advocate for expanding of services, and retention of current client or customer base.

Qualifications

Education

Graduate of accredited nursing program for Registered Nurses.

License(s)/Certification(s)

Registered Nurse (RN) with valid license(s) in state practicing in good standing.

Current CPR Certification

Certification in Hearing conservation (CAOHC) or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire.

NIOSH approved spirometry training or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire.

If performing client-based services, Chauffer’s license required, which can be obtained within 6 months of hire, and must meet eligibility requirements of fleet policy.
