ABC Supply is North America's largest wholesale distributor of exterior and interior building products.
ABC Supply is proud to be an employee-first company. In fact, we have won the Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award every year since its inception in 2007, and Glassdoor has named us one of the best places to work in the country. Be part of a company that recognizes your talents, rewards your efforts, and helps you reach your full potential. At ABC Supply, we have YOUR future covered.
This role helps provide visibility into the health, performance, and availability of applications, infrastructure, servers, network devices, SD-WAN equipment, critical internal services, ERP systems, ERP integrations, and other supporting technology environments.
The IT Observability Engineer will work with IT Operations, infrastructure, network, application, and service management teams to configure monitoring, improve alert quality, support automated incident generation, build dashboards, troubleshoot monitoring issues, and improve operational response.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with enterprise monitoring or observability tools and understands how monitoring supports incident response, service reliability, and operational visibility. Experience with Dynatrace, PRTG, Splunk, ServiceNow ITOM, scripting, APIs, or automation is a strong plus.
What You'll Do:
  • Configure, maintain, and improve monitoring across assigned IT observability platforms.
  • Build and maintain alerts, thresholds, dashboards, reports, sensors, monitors, and operational views.
  • Support monitoring for applications, infrastructure, servers, network devices, SD-WAN equipment, critical internal services, ERP systems, ERP integrations, and related technology services.
  • Work with tools such as Dynatrace, PRTG, and Splunk to support application performance visibility, infrastructure monitoring, log analysis, dashboards, alerts, searches, reports, sensors, and operational monitoring use cases.
  • Help improve alert quality by reducing noise, tuning thresholds, identifying duplicate alerts, and improving actionable event visibility.
  • Support automated incident generation, event routing, escalation workflows, and monitoring-to-ITSM integrations.
  • Work with application, infrastructure, network, and operations teams to gather monitoring requirements and translate them into effective observability solutions.
  • Troubleshoot monitoring gaps, failed monitors, alerting issues, dashboard problems, integration failures, and event management issues.
  • Assist with ServiceNow ITOM and ITSM integrations, including Event Management, Alert Management, event-to-incident workflows, and automated incident creation.
  • Build or maintain scripts, queries, custom monitors, API integrations, PowerShell automation, SQL queries, or REST-based integrations as needed.
  • Participate in incident, problem, and root cause analysis activities by providing monitoring data, alert history, event timelines, and dashboard insights.
  • Maintain documentation for monitoring configurations, dashboards, alert logic, integrations, support procedures, and operational handoffs.
  • Partner with senior engineers and platform SMEs to improve monitoring coverage, observability practices, automation, and service reliability.

Required Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise monitoring or observability platforms, including configuring alerts, dashboards, sensors, reports, or event management workflows.
  • Practical experience using monitoring data, alerts, logs, dashboards, or event information to support troubleshooting, incident response, and service reliability.
  • Working knowledge of IT operations processes, including incident management, problem management, escalation, and operational support.
  • Experience building or maintaining alerts, dashboards, reports, monitors, or operational views.
  • Ability to work with technical teams to understand monitoring needs and implement practical observability solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating with senior engineers, platform owners, and operational teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Dynatrace, including infrastructure monitoring, APM, dashboards, alerting, problem detection, synthetic monitoring, or integrations.
  • Experience with PRTG, including sensors, probes, device monitoring, network monitoring, alerting, maps, or reporting.
  • Experience with Splunk, including SPL, searches, dashboards, alerts, reports, log analysis, or operational monitoring use cases.
  • Experience with ServiceNow ITOM or ITSM, especially Event Management, Alert Management, monitoring integrations, or automated incident creation.
  • Experience with PowerShell, SQL, Python, REST APIs, scripting, automation, or custom monitoring.
  • Experience supporting monitoring for applications, infrastructure, servers, network equipment, SD-WAN devices, integrations, ERP systems, or critical business services.
  • Familiarity with alert correlation, AIOps concepts, event routing, incident escalation, automated remediation, or root cause analysis.
  • Experience creating technical documentation, support procedures, runbooks, or knowledge articles.

  • Customer-service mindset when working with IT teams and business stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail when configuring alerts, dashboards, sensors, and integrations.
  • Ability to balance operational support work with longer-term improvement efforts.

Experience Level:
