As of Jun 30, 2026, the average hourly pay for obgyn pa in the United States is $129.94, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $120.19 and $129.81 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an OB/GYN Physician Assistant (PA), and why are they important?

To thrive as an OB/GYN Physician Assistant, you need a solid medical background with a Master's degree from an accredited PA program, national certification (PANCE), and state licensure, along with specialized knowledge in women's reproductive health. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), diagnostic tools, and common OB/GYN procedures is essential. Strong communication, empathy, and the ability to educate and reassure patients are crucial soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure high-quality patient care, efficient clinical operations, and positive patient experiences in women's health settings.

What can a PA do in OB/GYN?

An OB/GYN PA (Physician Assistant) can perform a range of clinical tasks including taking medical histories, conducting physical exams, diagnosing and treating common gynecological and obstetric conditions, assisting in surgeries, and providing patient education. They work under the supervision of an OB/GYN physician and often perform procedures such as Pap smears, ultrasounds, and prenatal visits, requiring certification and clinical experience in women's health.

What is an OBGYN PA?

An OBGYN PA, or Obstetrics and Gynecology Physician Assistant, is a licensed healthcare professional who works under the supervision of an OBGYN physician to provide medical care to women. They assist with routine gynecological exams, prenatal and postnatal care, family planning, and sometimes minor procedures. OBGYN PAs play a crucial role in educating patients, taking medical histories, performing physical exams, and ordering or interpreting diagnostic tests. They help ensure comprehensive care for women's reproductive health and can work in clinics, hospitals, or private practices.

What are some common challenges an OB/GYN PA may face when balancing patient care with administrative responsibilities?

OB/GYN PAs often juggle a mix of clinical duties, such as assisting with exams, procedures, and patient counseling, alongside administrative tasks like documentation and coordinating care with other providers. Managing time efficiently can be challenging, especially during busy clinic days or when handling urgent patient needs. Effective communication and strong organizational skills are essential to ensure seamless care delivery and maintain accurate records. Many practices offer support through electronic health record systems and collaborative team structures to help PAs manage these demands.

Can I make 300k as a physician assistant?

Obgyn PAs typically earn between $100,000 and $150,000 annually, with some experienced professionals in high-demand areas reaching around $180,000. Earning $300,000 is uncommon for physician assistants and usually requires additional specialization, extensive experience, or working in high-paying regions or private practices. Achieving such a salary generally involves roles beyond standard PA responsibilities and may require advanced certifications or additional training.

How much does an OBGYN make?

Obstetricians and Gynecologists (OBGYNs) in Pennsylvania typically earn an average annual salary ranging from $200,000 to $300,000, depending on experience, location, and practice setting. Salaries can vary based on factors such as specialization, hours worked, and whether they work in hospitals, clinics, or private practice.

Can you make $200,000 as a PA?

Obgyn PAs can potentially earn $200,000 or more annually, especially with extensive experience, specialized skills, and working in high-demand regions or settings. However, salaries vary based on location, employer, and years of practice, with some earning less than this amount. Continuing education and certification can also influence earning potential.

OB/GYN Physician
Yakima, WA | Proven $450K+ Earning Potential | Robotics | AI Scribes | Multidisciplinary Care Team | Loan Relief | Visa Support
If you're looking for meaningful OB/GYN work without private practice instability or hospital burnout, while still earning at the top of the market, this role is worth a serious look.
Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (YVFWC) is a large, stable Federally Qualified Health Center supporting high performing physicians with strong infrastructure, robotic assisted surgery, and efficient administrative support. Providers deliver full spectrum OB/GYN care with Epic, experienced staff, and hospital based call.
We are excited to open a newly centralized OB/GYN and Women's Health clinic in Yakima this November, bringing our existing services together into one dedicated, comprehensive location. This expansion strengthens access and continuity of care by aligning closely with YVFWC's network of primary care, pediatric, and specialty clinics ensuring coordinated support for patients across every stage of life. By unifying our women's health services, this clinic will enhance efficiency, improve the patient experience, and expand our ability to meet the growing needs of the community. This is a unique opportunity for an OB/GYN to make a meaningful impact while helping shape a collaborative, mission-driven practice that is deeply rooted in and trusted by the patients it serves.
The Practice
  • Established OB/GYN service line with high patient demand
  • Mixed OB + GYN care with continuity of patients
  • Robotic-assisted gynecologic surgery
  • Opportunity to maintain and expand minimally invasive surgical skills
  • Team-based model designed to allow physicians to practice at the top of their license
  • Collaborative, mission-driven culture-without private practice volume pressure

Your Care Team (You Are Not Doing This Alone)
OB/GYNs at YVFWC practice within a robust, multidisciplinary care model that supports both medical and social complexity:
  • Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) supporting prenatal and gynecologic care
  • Certified bilingual Medical Assistants
  • Behavioral Health Consultants (BHCs) integrated into clinic flow
  • Social Workers and Care Coordinators addressing social drivers of health
  • Registered Dietitians
  • Lactation Consultants
  • Internal referrals to pediatrics, family medicine, dental, pharmacy, and specialty services across the YVFWC system

This structure allows physicians to focus on clinical decision-making, surgery, and relationship-based care-while the broader team supports patient outcomes.
Provider Support & Technology
We actively invest in tools and staffing to reduce documentation burden and support physician sustainability:
  • AI-powered ambient scribe technology to reduce after-hours charting
  • Epic EMR with standardized templates and optimization support
  • In-basket workflows supported by clinical teams
  • Administrative and operational leadership focused on removing non-clinical burden

The expectation is not that physicians "do more hours," but that they practice efficiently with the right support.
Hospital, Call & Clinical Environment
  • Call covered at MultiCare Memorial Hospital (Yakima)
  • Typical call rotation is approximately 1:6
  • Access to OR resources, including robotic platforms
  • Clinic operations designed to support care teams-not physician overextension

Compensation (Transparent, Competitive, and Proven)
Starting total compensation approximately $376,000, with substantial upside.
Proven Earning Potential
  • Established OB/GYN physicians at YVFWC have demonstrated total annual compensation of $450,000+
  • Achieved through a combination of base salary, WRVU productivity incentives, and quality incentives
  • Designed for sustainability-not short-term volume chasing

Compensation Includes:
  • Market-aligned base salary benchmarked to MGMA Western Region
  • WRVU productivity incentive above benchmark thresholds
  • Annual quality incentive (up to 10%)
  • $30,000 hiring bonus
  • $20,000 relocation allowance
  • $2,000/month resident stipend beginning after contract signing
  • Malpractice insurance provided (no tail coverage required)

Additional Compensation Opportunities
Physicians may further increase earnings through optional, compensated roles, including:
  • WRVU productivity incentives beyond base expectations
  • Quality incentive payments tied to defined preventive care and outcomes metrics
  • Teaching and precepting stipends for physician and APP training programs
  • PA-C supervision compensation
  • Clinical mentorship and leadership stipends
  • Participation in medical leadership or committee work, if desired

Physicians can shape both scope and income over time.
Student Loan Repayment (Significant)
  • Monthly student loan payments covered for 60 months
  • On the 61st month, remaining balance paid off in full
  • Compatible with NHSC and Washington Health Corps

Benefits That Matter
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance at no cost to employee
  • Generous paid time off
  • 8 paid holidays
  • $3,700 CME allowance plus 5 paid CME days
  • Employer-funded 401(a)
  • Additional 403(b) and 457(b) retirement plans
  • Life insurance and employee assistance program

Additional Opportunities (Optional)
  • Visa sponsorship available (J-1 Waiver and H-1B)
  • 4-week Medical Spanish Immersion Program in Xela, Guatemala
  • Leadership development and clinical growth pathways

Who We're Looking For

  • Completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited OB/GYN residency
  • Interest in full-scope OB/GYN care
  • Commitment to high-quality, community-based medicine

New graduates welcome. Spanish language skills encouraged but not required.

Enjoy life in the Pacific Northwest with:
