Job description

Kendal at Oberlin is a full-service life plan community, which primarily serves older adults in the Quaker tradition. Residents are assured a lifetime of healthcare including short- and long-term nursing services, memory care and assisted living. Equally important, residents enjoy an independent, enriching living experience.

Kendal at Oberlin's Dining Services team is currently seeking caring, customer focused individuals for Waitstaff positions. Our Waitstaff are responsible to wait on residents and guests in the dining areas of Kendal at Oberlin. This very important role assists in the food preparation as well as sanitation of the department as needed. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Being familiar with all menu items for meal service: garnishes, the fresh fruits available, ingredients in food to answer residents' questions. 
  • Using proper serving and food handling techniques.
  • Replenishing food and supplies throughout meal service.
  • Serving food and beverages to all customers using proper portions.
  • Attending pre-meal meetings.
  • Having all items needed for meal service set up before doors open.
  • Preparing coffee and hot water as needed throughout the meal service. 
  • Vacuuming assigned areas of dining areas.
  • Thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing tables, chairs and countertops. 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend English.
  • Barista experience highly desired.
  • Must have a cheerful demeanor. 
  • Must have clean, neat work appearance.
  • Ability to lift weights of up to 25 pounds. 
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk most of the shift.
