**Job Title: OB/GYN Billing Specialist**

**Position Overview:**

We are seeking an experienced Billing Specialist to join our OB/GYN practice. The ideal candidate must have direct billing experience in women’s health / OB/GYN and be highly proficient in athenahealth. This role requires strong knowledge of medical billing workflows, insurance follow-up, denial management, payment posting, claims resolution, and patient account management specific to an OB/GYN setting.


**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Submit clean claims accurately and timely through athenahealth
  • Review and resolve claim rejections and denials
  • Follow up with insurance companies on unpaid or underpaid claims
  • Post insurance and patient payments accurately
  • Work aging reports and outstanding AR
  • Review patient accounts for billing accuracy and follow-up needs
  • Handle billing corrections, resubmissions, and appeals
  • Communicate with front desk, clinical staff, and management to resolve billing issues
  • Maintain compliance with payer rules and billing regulations
  • Help improve collections, reduce denials, and optimize revenue cycle performance

**Required Qualifications:**

  • Minimum [5] years of medical billing experience in an OB/GYN practice
  • Strong working knowledge of athenahealth
  • Experience with:
    • Insurance claim submission and follow-up
    • Denial management and appeals
    • Payment posting
    • Patient balances and account review
    • Eligibility and benefits verification
    • OB/GYN coding and billing workflows
  • Understanding of commercial insurance
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding relevant to OB/GYN
