Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety (EH&S) regulations.
  • Works with the Greensboro facility and corporate EH&S Team to develop and implement standardized programs to maintain full compliance with EH&S standards to meet/exceed metrics.
  • Measures plant performance against best-in-class manufacturing to create and implement plans with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Develops and conducts EH&S program training.
  • Provides strategic direction and implements a safety management system for hazard prevention and control.
  • Recommends adjustments using the hierarchy of controls to protect workers from hazards that are common in the manufacturing work environment.
  • Manages Safety & Health programs, including developing and sharing best practices and lessons learned with other OMS locations.
  • Responsible for all EHS regulatory reporting and permit requirements.

Work Environment
This role is onsite at the OMS Greensboro facility and requires daily presence on the shop floor. The EHS Manager must be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, conducting frequent floor walks, engaging directly with team members and supervisors, and monitoring active production processes to identify hazards and support safe work practices. Visibility and hands-on involvement in plant operations are essential to success in this role.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety and/or Environmental or related field
  • Minimum 4 to 8 years of experience in EHS role(s) involving leading and coaching employees
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Excellent leadership abilities and knowledge of OSHA & EPA requirements
  • Knowledge and experience with Behavior-Based Safety techniques

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. as needed.
  • Ability to bend, stand, climb, twist, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform sedentary work, including sitting for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Have good vision of 20/30 with corrective lenses.
  • Ability to maintain coordination of hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects with precision.

Subject to environmental conditions that occur indoors and outdoors, which include but are not limited to exposure to changing temperatures, loud noises, vibration from use of equipment, and the following:
  • Hazards: Variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to high heat, or exposure to chemicals.
  • Atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin - fumes, odors, dust, mist, and gases.
  • Oils: there is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other coolants.
