Coler offers long term and subacute care, rehabilitation, and a dedicated memory care unit, comprised of 150 beds featuring an acclaimed music and memory program. Duties & Responsibilities
Position Overview: Under the direction and supervision of a Food Service Supervisor/ Management, performs all duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
  1. Sets up the assigned station with appropriate items before meal service; checks for cleanliness before starting preparation of food.
  2. Assembles prepared food on trays for patients according to menu or special diet lists, including portion control restrictions. Delivers trays to patients and collects/returns soiled trays to the kitchen area. Participates in daily menu conferences and food service operations of the cafeteria or dining room area, including organizing the serving area, collecting dishes, and resetting tables.
  3. Utilizes food carts as needed to make patient tray deliveries
  4. Assists in cooking operations and prepares residents' between-meal nourishment and cold foods (e.g., salads, sandwiches, desserts, etc.) according to oral and/or written instruction; reconstitutes hot foods in microwave ovens.
  5. Serves foods at proper temperatures utilizing appropriate kitchen equipmentin a safe manner.
  6. Cleans the kitchen and dining area. Washes, sanitizes, and/or sterilizes dishes, work areas/surfaces, utensils, and equipment, including stripping trays, scraping, loading, and storing clean service wares.
  7. Collects, transports, and/or disposes of garbage and trash in designated containers; runs appropriate items through a dishwasher utilizing appropriate cleaning and sanitizing agent(s).
  8. Obtains stock from refrigerators and storerooms, loads and unloads stock, and dispatches and stores supplies. Utilizes "First in-First Out" (FIFO) stocking methods and provides stock replenishment recommendations.
  9. Reviews and follows assigned daily work tasks as posted or directed by the Supervisor.
  10. Communicates respectfully with others to help ensure positive experiences for residents, visitors, and facility staff.
  11. Monitors food labels to ensure appropriate freshness dates and product names are listed.
  12. Utilizes two patient identifiers and scripting when providing patient meals.
  13. Complete and submit timesheet accurately and on time in compliance with department procedures.
  14. Attends in-service education programs and departmental meetings, as assigned.
  15. Performs other related duties, as assigned or directed by Supervisor or Manager.

Minimum Qualifications
Ability to read and write English and to understand and carry out simple instructions.
