Job description

Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate (BHGRE) is seeking a strategic, accomplished communications professional to lead public relations and communications efforts for one of the most renowned brands in real estate.

As Senior Manager, Public Relations & Communications, you will be responsible for developing and executing integrated communications strategies that elevate visibility, reputation, and influence among both consumers and real estate professionals. Working closely with brand leadership, marketing, and franchisee servicing teams, you will drive a high-visibility earned media campaign, executive thought leadership platform, broker and agent storytelling program, and network communications strategy that reinforce the notion that 'Nobody Knows Homes Better.'

This role requires a strategic thinker and sophisticated storyteller who can identify unique industry perspectives, shape compelling narratives on behalf of agents and broker-owners, cultivate media opportunities, and translate brand objectives into comms strategies that generate visible impact. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable advising senior leaders, managing agency partners, collaborating across numerous stakeholders, and executing programs that measurably strengthen engagement across an international franchise network of over 11,000 real estate professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Communications Strategy

  • Lead the development and execution of BHGRE's integrated communications strategy, supporting network growth, reputation management, consumer brand awareness, and executive thought leadership.

  • Identify and develop compelling narratives that position BHGRE, its leadership team, and its real estate professionals as trusted voices on real estate, lifestyle, entrepreneurship, and design trends.
  • Serve as a strategic liaison to senior leaders (and, as necessary, broker-owners), providing expert counsel on messaging, positioning, and reputation-related opportunities.
  • Develop executive communications and thought leadership platforms for brand leaders, including speaking opportunities, events, op eds, and industry engagement strategies.
  • Create and oversee high-impact content including leader messaging, newsletters, speeches, and more.

    Franchise Network Communications
  • Lead communications initiatives that engage, inform, and inspire BHGRE's national network of affiliated real estate professionals.

  • Oversee the planning, creation, and distribution of franchise network communications, ensuring content is timely, relevant, and aligned with brand priorities.
  • Build process to incorporate feedback from the network, combined with email analytics, to continuously improve communications' effectiveness and reach.

    Media & Agency Management
  • Drive earned media programs across top-tier, trade, broadcast, business, and consumer media outlets to increase brand share of voice.

  • Partner with the marketing team to transform proprietary insight into newsworthy stories and compelling content as part of the annual BHGRE Trend Report.
  • Manage external PR agencies for both industry and consumer campaigns, establishing clear objectives and expectations.
  • Develop integrated media strategies, regional campaigns, and localized storytelling opportunities in partnership with affiliated brokerages and key markets.
  • Identify proactive media opportunities tied to market trends, brand milestones, successes from our network, product rollouts, and consumer insights.
  • Prepare executives and real estate professionals for interviews, speaking engagements, and media opportunities.

    Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, brand communications, or integrated marketing communications, either in-house or agency-side.
  • Demonstrated success leading national PR programs, media relations initiatives, and executive thought leadership strategies.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and presentation skills.
  • Experience counseling senior executives and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing agency partners.
  • Strategic thinker with strong instincts, sound judgment, and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Real estate, franchising, lifestyle, consumer brand, or related industry experience preferred.
