Job description

The Technical Services Department of a Residential Property Management company based in Brooklyn, NY, is seeking a strong Boiler Mechanic/Field Engineer to oversee the physical operation of properties throughout New York City, Upstate NY, and Northern New Jersey. This role involves working closely with Property Managers, Maintenance Supervisors, and Site Superintendents to ensure all mechanical systems operate efficiently, training site personnel on preventive maintenance, and managing repairs, replacements, and equipment upgrades as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of buildings and mechanical systems, evaluating conditions of major equipment including boilers, pumps, fans, hot water heaters, electrical systems, and fire systems
  • Establish scope of work for repairs, replacements, and equipment upgrades
  • Monitor construction projects to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Interface with contractors, consultants, and government agencies such as NYC Building Department, Department of Environmental Protection, and Fire Department
  • Read and follow sketches and specifications for in-house projects
  • Make recommendations to building owners, senior management, property managers, and site maintenance staff on preventive maintenance and OSHA safety programs
  • Advise on capital improvement projects as needed
  • Instruct and train building personnel on mechanical equipment operation and maintenance

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 yearsโ€™ experience as a Boiler Mechanic, Superintendent, or Facilities Maintenance Mechanic
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel
  • Excellent managerial and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred but not required
