Bucks Health and Wellness is a holistic medical program that specializes in obesity management in the underserved community of Milwaukee. Our mission is to help cure the obesity epidemic by bringing our holistic weight loss program to those in need and unable to otherwise afford holistic care and weight loss programs. Bucks Health & Wellness is made possible by the Milwaukee Bucks Foundation with the goal of improving the health and wellbeing of the underserved in Milwaukee. We believe that by empowering people with their healthcare through personalized medicine, exercise, and nutrition programs, we can help improve population health outcomes and improve longevity by treating obesity.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We're seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant who is passionate about patient care, possesses excellent communication skills, and thrives in a one-on-one care environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Duties:

  • Assist nurse practitioners and physicians during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, including phlebotomy, and perform basic laboratory tests.
  • Take patient vitals like blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
  • Administer medications under the direction of a physician.

Administrative Duties:

  • Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow.
  • Update and file medical records and insurance reports.
  • Handle patient calls including providing information and assistance.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality as per HIPAA regulations.

Personalized Care:

  • Provide personalized attention to patients, understanding their preferences and history.
  • Coordinate patients' programmatic care.

Communication:

  • Serve as a liaison between patients, nurse practitioners, and physicians, ensuring clarity and understanding.
  • Relay patient concerns, questions, and feedback to the nurse practitioner and physician.

Continuous Learning:

  • Stay updated on medical procedures, terminology, and advancements.
  • Participate in workshops, seminars, and training as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completed a Medical Assistant Program from an accredited institution.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a concierge or personalized medical setting is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) software.
  • Flexibility in work hours, as some evening or weekend shifts may be required.
