Job description

Ocean Spray is hiring for a(n) Principal Nutrition Scientist! We're a team of farmers, thinkers, creators, and doers. Whatever your title, whatever your role - it always comes back to this: we're a farmer-owned co-op where everyone rolls up their sleeves to get the job done. Three maverick farmers started it all - and we've been making our own way ever since.

Position Location: We're all about flexibility! This will be a hybrid role based out of our corporate headquarters in Lakeville, MA with Mondays and Fridays remote.

The Principal Nutrition Scientist will lead nutritional research initiatives for the Cooperative. You will analyze research needs and develop strategy for research to support product development efforts pertaining to Cooperative products and functional ingredients including but not limited to evaluating scientific literature, developing research strategy, conducting clincal trials and analyzing outcomes to support messaging. You will build relationships with external stakeholders and research units, substantiate health claims for products, and ensure nutritional regulatory compliance. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and identify health innovations for a competitive industry advantage.

A Day in the Life...

  • Provides strategic direction for nutrition research activities to promote new and current areas of cranberry health benefits and other health promoting functional ingredients. Drives long term health positioning and competitive advantage.
  • Define research agenda based on enterprise direction and influence innovation pipeline. Coordinate and support basic and clinical research activities by initiating new collaborations, reviewing literature and attending conferences
  • Coordinate and execute nutrition policy activities in cross functional teams to provide technical support for development and marketing of innovative health products globally.
  • Provide direction for development of substantiation for functional ingredients to support marketing claims and regulatory approvals globally.
  • Establish good working relationships with academic influencers and external collaborators.
  • Provide nutrition technical expertise to cross functional team members for evaluation of emerging technology to support health innovations, product innovations, and sustainability.
  • Familiar with patent search, analysis and mapping. Relay opinion on claims and patent interpretations.
  • Plan nutrition research activities to promote new and current areas of cranberry health benefits and other health promoting functional ingredients. Execution and leadership for development and support of research and claims.

Required

  • Show depth and breadth of knowledge in nutrition science and help transmit and implement solutions to business challenges.
  • Educational training in nutrition, biochemistry, human health or biology
  • Clinical design and biostatistics.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Annual Salary:

$105,800 - $145,420
