POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides the technical expertise and leadership necessary to establish and maintain procedures in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), sanitation, food safety, good hygiene practices, and pest control to ensure compliance with federal, state, regulatory and Nestle quality systems. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Validation and Verification
    • Metal detector, X-Ray, label scanner (QR Code and Barcode), other detection and rejection devices
    • Clean-In-Place (CIP), Clean-Out-Of-Place (COP), manual cleaning
    • Write up validation/verification protocol
    • Organize swabs and swabbing paperwork
  • Setup, manage, enforce and maintain programs and verification activities related to Pre Requisite Programs (PRP) (zoning, pest control, personnel hygiene, sanitation, allergen sanitation, sanitary design, environmental monitoring).
    • Identify and interpret Pre Requisite Program verification activities and develop improvement initiatives.
    • Communicate and provide guidance on implementation and sustainment.
    • Acquiring support from the relevant internal and external expertise as needed.
    • Demonstrate that PRPs are in place and managed as part of factory routines (managing supporting documentation, PRP verification & monitoring activities, PRPs robustness, and limited gaps under control) and act as subject matter expert.
    • Owns/Organizes Master Sanitation, Factory Quality Grow Trainings, GMP Audit Program, PPP/PIP review/approval, and factory GMP PPE (hairnets, link roller, etc.)
  • Serves as primary contact to third party hygiene technical resource representatives and drives accountability to contractual obligations
  • Participation
    • Food Safety Team Meetings
    • Management of Change (MOC) Team Meetings
    • Maintenance Planning Meetings
    • Nestle USA (NUSA) Hygienist conference calls and 1:1 calls with NUSA Sr Quality Expert Industrial Hygiene
  • Act as factory CIP Champion and Pest Control Champion
  • Directly supervise 10 hourly employees in janitorial, pest control, and chemical operator roles, including scheduling and daily performance of tasks.
    • Deliver/Develop new hire and plant classroom training on topics including Food Safety, HACCP, Hygiene, Pest Control, others as necessary
  • Lead in identifying preventative and corrective actions for factory hygiene-related issues, including through use of data review and trending, with focus on loss analysis and factory operational objectives

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • BS Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or related field (preferred food science related).
  • Will accept minimum 3-5 years of related Quality Experience. 
  • Experience in the food or pharma industry highly preferred.
  • Able to work flexible hours as needed.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated Competence in food safety / HACCP, hygiene, and pest control to support business requirements:
  • Experience in successfully implementing quality assurance programs
  • Demonstrated capability to lead a group
  • Participating in audit teams and/or improvement projects with more senior staff members
  • Developing and delivering training to both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Establishing networks of peers, in market or factories

SKILLS:

  • Ability to communicate efficiently internally and externally.
  • Ability to build personal relationships with different functions of the value chain based on trust and open communication.
  • Developed training and coaching skills.
  • At ease with databases and reporting trends to management
  • Able to work under deadlines
