Job description

Responsible for pre-registration, pre-certification, registration, bed assignment for admission of patients in assigned area. Maintain current medical records and order entry on all unit patients. Perform other patient comfort duties needed to maintain the flow of patient care within the system. Required to float to various departments and Palomar Health facilities. Record and calculate all necessary parameters and interprets ECG tracings for diagnostic purposes; monitors and integrates cardiac rhythms. Responsible for the overall management of the individual ED pod, including but not limited to: Assist provider in making phone calls to other physicians and hospitals. Responsible for accurate communication between the physician, Laboratory, CT, and Radiology for any tests to be completed in a timely manner. Manage incoming and outgoing calls. Manage appropriate returned calls and makes additional needed calls for stroke and STEMI patients. Responsible for completing and logging transfer packets and admit charts. Arrange both emergent and non-emergent transfers (CHET/ Mercy AIR, BLS, CCT). Distribute run sheets to appropriate pod with proper and accurate information for medical records. Pull daily ED patient log off and completes daily reconciling of charts/ discharges (up to 250 patients). Complete DMV notification. Complete animal bite reporting form. Manage forms and stock with in the Pod for physicians. Audit charts and IV stop time for proper breaking down and file. Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards.
