This position support student learning of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSA) related to nursing laboratory learning, practice, and simulation. Collaborates with laboratory manager and course faculty in setting up and administering laboratory teaching and practice sessions. Supervises student skill practice sessions. Documents Student achievement of laboratory KSAs.

Responsibilities:

  • Sets up daily laboratory skill station with supplies and equipment
  • Utilizes equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking and reporting stock to determine inventory level to the laboratory manager
  • Maintains continuity among nursing faculty, laboratory manager, and students by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Maintains a safe and clean laboratory environment by complying with procedures, processes, and rules
  • Attends educational workshops, planning sessions, and end of semester laboratory evaluation sessions as needed
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship among nursing faculty and laboratory manager by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods
  • Performs other duties as needed

Qualifications:

  • Licensed as a registered nurse in the State of WI required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
  • Employed in a health care setting as a registered nursing with a minimum of one (1) year of direct care experience as a practicing nurse and employment as a registered nurse with direct patience care within the last five (5) years
  • Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission.

  • Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, sexual orientation,ethnicity, religion, ability, socio-economic background, or job type.

Compliance:

Employees may be required to report violations of law under Title IX and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). If this position is identified a Campus Security Authority (Clery Act), you will be notified and provided resources for reporting. The Clery Act requires all prospective employees be notified of the availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety report. Campus Security Authority Responsibilities

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to Public Safety and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
