Description
Temporary, part-time faculty positions offer the opportunity to assist a diverse group of students in achieving their educational goals. As one of the largest community college districts in southern California, we offer a wide range of opportunities in transfer, general education, career, and technical education programs. These part-time positions are on an as-needed basis and applicants should live within commuting distance to Orange County.
Performance Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of part-time faculty are to teach classes in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. The faculty member will prepare and provide students with course outlines, materials, and lectures that support learning objectives set forth in the course syllabus; when requested, help develop, and measure learning outcomes as identified by the department; and assess student performance and maintain grade records.
Report assessment data on student learning outcomes, administrative unit outcomes, and/or student services outcomes.
Utilize the results of student learning outcomes assessment to make improvements in teaching and learning.
Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
Follow the regulations, policies, and procedures of the college and district as published.
Complete all program/college/district reporting deadlines on time.
Complete and submit required documents in a timely manner.
Make use of technology and learning materials that are current, support the lesson, and enable students to engage with the material.
Establish and maintain a framework for regular and sustained contact with/among students if teaching distance education courses.
Teach classes during the scheduled time and at the assigned location.
Meet workload obligations.
Maintain accurate records.
May participate in curriculum review and program development.
Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, on-line and/or off-campus classes.
Additional Staffing Need: Simulation Lab Coordinator
The School of Health and Wellness is also seeking a simulation lab coordinator who will be responsible for the management, operation, and continuous improvement of the nursing simulation laboratory. This role collaborates closely with faculty to design, implement, and evaluate simulation-based learning experiences that support course and clinical objectives, while ensuring a safe, effective, and technologically current learning environment. As a simulation instructor, this role entails running clinical lab simulations for students and providing feedback to their respective clinical faculty and providing open simulation opportunities for students.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Must meet one (1) of the following qualifications under (a) through (d):
(a) Master's in nursing OR
(b) Bachelor's in nursing AND Master's in health education or health science OR
(c) A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of (a) or (b) above OR
(d) the minimum qualifications as set by the Board of Registered Nursing, whichever is higher

Retiree Benefits:
Faculty (Full-Time)
Present medical, vision, and dental benefits for those retirees who were employed full-time by the District for ten (10) years immediately preceding the date of retirement and who have reached the age of fifty-five (55), and who meet the eligibility requirements described in the collective bargaining agreement, and for the dependents of eligible retirees, shall continue until the retiree reaches the age of Medicare eligibility. The retiree may be eligible for continued benefits after reaching the age of Medicare eligibility.

Effective July 1, 2008, to June 30, 2026, bargaining unit members who retire from the District and the California Public Employees' Retirement System ("CalPERS")/California State Teachers' Retirement System ("CalSTRS") concurrently at sixty (60) years of age or older who have been employed by the District for at least ten (10) consecutive years, during which they were health benefit eligible under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement immediately prior to retirement, shall receive the same District contribution as provided active bargaining unit members under the collective bargaining agreement, toward health benefits specified under the collective bargaining agreement, excluding long term disability and life insurance, the legal assistance program and long term care insurance, until age sixty-five (65) or until the bargaining unit member becomes eligible for Medicare, whichever is sooner.
