What You'll Do
As a Clinic RN, you'll work closely with providers and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate care, support clinic operations and provide a positive experience for patients throughout their visit.
Patient Care & Clinical Support
  • Assess and record vital signs and communicate abnormal findings to the appropriate provider.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, treatments and procedures.
  • Assist with and perform clinical procedures within established scope, policy and demonstrated competency.
  • Administer prescribed medications and vaccinations via the appropriate route.
  • Perform non-complex procedures such as simple dressing changes.
  • Collect, prepare and secure specimens for point-of-care testing or laboratory transport.
  • Perform point-of-care testing when applicable.
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately to urgent or emergency situations.
  • Provide compassionate, age-appropriate care while addressing patients' comfort and individual needs.
Care Coordination & Clinic Flow
  • Help coordinate a smooth patient experience from arrival through departure.
  • Assist with new and follow-up appointment scheduling.
  • Collaborate with providers and other healthcare professionals to support continuity of care.
  • Gather appropriate clinical documentation and medical records for provider review.
  • Obtain outside medical records and incorporate appropriate documentation into the electronic medical record.
Medication & Safety Management
  • Maintain medication and vaccine inventory.
  • Monitor proper medication storage and refrigerator/freezer temperature logs.
  • Ensure appropriate handling and disposal of expired medications.
  • Follow infection-prevention, environmental and patient-safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized clinical environment.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including QAPI projects and EOC rounds.
Documentation & Communication
  • Accurately document assessments, clinical tasks, medications, testing and procedures in the patient's electronic medical record.
  • Navigate the EMR to access laboratory results, radiology results and medical records.
  • Maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Communicate clinic activities, concerns and patient-care needs to appropriate leadership and providers.
  • Assist with telephone communication and route calls to the appropriate team member.
What We're Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid license or temporary permit to practice professional nursing in Louisiana.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
