Job description

Northwest Respiratory Services is a leading provider of oxygen & respiratory products throughout the Midwest & Northern Rockies. Working from our Eagan, MN office, we are currently in search of a seasoned Billing Specialist. This position is responsible for full-cycle billing of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) claims, including claim submission, denial resolution, appeals, and accounts receivable follow-up. This role plays a critical part in reducing denials, improving cash flow, and ensuring compliance with Medicare DMEPOS and payer requirements. This is an onsite position taking place in our office located in Eagan, MN.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Submit and monitor DME claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers
  • Verify insurance, obtain authorizations
  • Research, correct, and resubmit denied/rejected claims
  • Conduct A/R follow-ups and payment postings (EOBs, adjustments)
  • Communicate with payers to resolve issues
  • Ensure compliance with DMEPOS, HIPPA, and payer rules
  • Maintain organized records and support audits
  • Report trends in denials and recommended improvements
  • Prepare appeals within payer deadlines

Key Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of full cycle medical billing experience, preferably in DME/HME
  • Well versed in medical insurance and terminology
  • Great communication skills written and verbal, contacting insurances, facilities, patients, etc.
  • Work individual feedback sessions, staff meetings and annual training and/or competency tests
