Job description

Salary: $20-25/hour

Position Summary

Pinehurst Landscapes is seeking a hardworking and dependable Nursery / Yard Assistant to support daily nursery operations and landscape production activities. This position is responsible for the care and organization of plant material and landscape supplies, assisting with material handling and deliveries, and helping ensure crews have the materials and equipment needed to operate efficiently.

The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, is organized, safety-conscious, and takes pride in maintaining a clean and efficient nursery and yard environment.

Responsibilities

  • Care for nursery plant material through:
    • Watering
    • Weeding
    • Pruning
    • General plant maintenance
  • Perform mowing and general upkeep of nursery and yard areas
  • Receive and organize incoming deliveries of plant material and landscape supplies
  • Pull and stage materials in support of landscape construction, maintenance, and enhancement operations
  • Deliver materials, tools, and supplies to job sites as needed
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, and deliveries safely and efficiently
  • Operate landscape and material-handling equipment safely
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of nursery, yard, and storage areas
  • Assist production teams with mobilization and logistics as needed
  • Help monitor inventory and notify management of shortages or damaged materials
  • Follow all company safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines

Qualifications

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Valid drivers license required
  • DOT Medical Card required or ability to obtain one
  • Equipment operation experience required
  • Ability to accurately identify plant material is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in landscaping, nursery operations, or horticulture is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Full-time position
  • Outdoor, physically active work environment
  • Seasonal overtime may be required based on workload and weather conditions
