Nova Space Solutions (NSS) is seeking a Carpenter to support facility maintenance, repair, renovation, and construction activities for NASA operations. This position performs skilled carpentry work involving wooden structures, framing, walls, doors, windows, flooring, ceilings, concrete forms, scaffolding, cabinets, and other building components.


Essential Job Duties:

  • Perform general carpentry work using hand and power tools.
  • Erect wooden structures and construct building frames.
  • Install exterior and interior walls, trim, doors, windows, floor tile, and ceiling tile.
  • Build concrete forms and scaffolding.
  • Perform maintenance and repair work on buildings and facilities.
  • Build and install cabinets, interior fixtures, and related components.
  • Prepare layouts, select materials, and complete work in accordance with blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions.
  • Coordinate multiple assignments and projects simultaneously.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Mandatory:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a related vocational program and at least two (2) years of related carpentry experience; five (5) years of directly related experience may be substituted for the vocational education requirement.
  • Experience using carpentry hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, sketches, work orders, and verbal instructions.
  • Strong organizational, planning, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to take direction and follow detailed instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with employees, customers, and personnel at various organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required NASA site access and credentials.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting NASA, Federal, or government contractor environments.
  • Experience performing carpentry work in industrial, institutional, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Basic computer skills and experience using electronic work orders or maintenance systems.

Working Conditions:

  • Push and pull frequently throughout the day
  • Walk up/downstairs frequently
  • Stand seven hours per day
  • Climb ladders and scaffolding
  • Wear PPE gear six hours continuously (steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves)
  • Tolerate extreme cold/heat for three hours continuously

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical effort involving able average standing, sitting, walking or detail work.
  • Occasional risk of injury due to hazards. Lift minimum of 30-pound load up from the ground frequently
  • Walk six hours per day
  • Bend and stoop six hours per day
  • Work overhead with minimum 20-pound load
