Summary of Responsibility:
The Sales Consultant is responsible for managing and developing relationships within an assigned territory through regular visits with prospective and existing customers, referral sources, and healthcare professionals. Working collaboratively with physicians and therapists, the Sales Consultant evaluates each patient's individual mobility and positioning needs, assists in identifying and recommending appropriate custom wheelchair and rehabilitation technology solutions, and supports the delivery process through product education and training. The role also includes providing instruction to patients, caregivers, and clinical staff to ensure the safe and effective use of prescribed equipment while maintaining a high level of customer service and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establishes, builds, and maintains relationships within assigned long-term care facilities and therapists to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and support.
- Travels throughout the assigned territory to conduct patient assessments, facility visits, educational programs, and account management activities.
- Collaborates with physicians, therapists, patients, and caregivers to identify individualized mobility and positioning needs.
- Performs comprehensive seating and mobility evaluations and assists in recommending appropriate Complex Rehabilitation Technology (CRT) solutions.
- Provides education regarding rehabilitation technology products, clinical applications, and equipment features to patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
- Maintains accurate documentation of customer interactions, account activities, and sales opportunities within company systems.
- Ensures all recommendations and services align with Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance guidelines and documentation requirements.
- Follows established company policies and workflows to promote an efficient process from evaluation through equipment delivery and follow-up.
- Assists with basic troubleshooting and minor repairs of patient-owned equipment when appropriate.
- Works with the NPL Team to resolve problems and provide support.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in a clinical/health care related field.
- Clean driving record with the ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory.
- Ability to work independently while exercising sound clinical judgment and professional decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities when working with patients, caregivers, therapists, physicians, and referral partners.
- Effective ability to prioritize competing responsibilities while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification, Occupational Therapist (OT), Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), Physical Therapist (PT), or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is highly desirable.
- Previous experience working with Complex Rehabilitation Technology (CRT) or Durable Medical Equipment (DME).
- Experience performing seating and mobility assessments and developing individualized equipment recommendations.
- Familiarity with clinical conditions that impact functional mobility, including spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and other neurological or musculoskeletal disorders.
- Demonstrated success in customer service, account management, or consultative sales roles.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience
Working Conditions:
- Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach daily for long periods
- Able to walk an extensive amount of hours
- Able to lift to 25 pounds occasionally
- Regular and on-time attendance
- Variable work hours - (Hours may exceed 40 hours per week)
