Job description

NorthStar Energy Solutions, a Quanta Services, Inc. (NYSE:PWR) company, is headquartered in Grand Prairie, TX and operates across the Central Southwest part of the United States. We are leaders specializing in transmission lines, distribution lines, substation construction, foundations, storm damage repairs, and electrical contracting.

Joining our team means being part of an organization that values drive and inclusion. We focus on career development and reward excellence, recognizing each team member's unique contributions. This role is intended for craft professionals with hands-on substation experience or closely related backgrounds such as transmission line work, testing, relay, or protection & controls.

This position does not require prior safety-specific job titles. The ideal candidate brings real field experience, credibility with craft personnel, and a strong understanding of electrical hazards in high-risk environments. • Participate in daily tailboards, job briefings, and field safety observations
  • Identify hazards and unsafe conditions and work with crews and supervision to implement corrective actions
  • Support development and review of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), switching plans, and site-specific safety plans
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NESC, company policies, and client safety requirements
  • Support energized work, switching activities, outages, and testing operations from a safety perspective
  • Assist with incident, near-miss, and hazard reporting, including documentation and follow-up
  • Serve as a field resource and mentor to crews by reinforcing safe work practices through direct engagement

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience working within electrical substations, including construction, maintenance, testing, commissioning, or outage activities
  • Strong understanding of substation-specific hazards, grounding practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and energized work protocols
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field crews, supervisors, and project leadership in active substation environments
  • Willingness to travel to job sites across Texas as needed
  • OSHA 10 or 30, NFPA 70E, First Aid/CPR, or similar safety training, preferred
  • Prior safety representative or safety leadership experience, preferred but not required

As a Quanta Services employee, we offer a wide range of benefits to fit your needs.

  • 401(k) with immediate matching and vesting
  • Fully comprehensive benefits packages; Medical, Dental, Vision
    • Your choice of PPO, HSA, FSA
  • Short term and long term benefits
  • Employee discounts on consumer goods
