National Award-Winning Multidisciplinary A&E firm is actively seeking an Engineering Director (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Technology) to join their Berkeley or Folsom office. The MEPT Division
The Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Technology (MEPT) division specializes in delivering comprehensive mechanical, electrical, plumbing, technology, and fire protection engineering design services. The team is dedicated to ensuring system performance, reliability, flexibility, and ease of maintenance. They primarily focus on large commercial projects, including award-winning K-12 schools, and emphasize teamwork to solve problems with a holistic approach.
Your Responsibilities:
This role requires advanced architectural and engineering knowledge, acquired through extensive experience and specialized intellectual instruction in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Technology Engineering. Key responsibilities include:
  • Leadership and Business Development: Serve as the MEPT team leader for a designated territory, focusing on successful client interactions and directing business development and marketing strategies to drive financial success.
  • Staff Management: Lead and manage the MEPT staff in an assigned office, ensuring effective coordination across all project disciplines and departments to deliver high-quality products and services.
  • Project Operations: Oversee smooth project operations to ensure timely delivery of quality work that meets the highest standards.
  • Intellectual Property and Standards: Ensure that all produced work is original and consistently meets the company's standards for high-quality construction.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all work produced is original and meets the highest standards of quality in the field of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology consulting.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with clients, leadership, field operations, project teams, contractors, and consultants through both oral and written means.
  • Document Management: Monitor and maintain project documents, files, and directories throughout all project phases.
  • Leadership Communication: Regularly update senior leadership on project-related matters.
  • Proposal and Cost Estimates: Develop engineering proposals and cost estimates for various systems, including Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Technology, Fire Alarm, and Fire Sprinkler.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: 12+ years of experience with an AEC or engineering consulting firm or commissioning firm
  • Education: B.S. Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field.
  • Professional License: P.E. (Professional Engineering) license preferred.
  • Software Proficiency: Ability to navigate Revit and AutoCAD for project design assessment.
  • Physical Ability: Willingness and ability to conduct site inspections and observe fieldwork.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong self-assessment skills to ensure projects meet timelines and budgets.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral, written, and communication skills.
  • Time Management: Strong time-management and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Market Experience: Project experience in the K-12 educational market.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient with MEP calculations and Title-24 documentation using Energy Pro software.
  • California Offices: Experience with the Division of the State Architect (DSA) and T-24 energy compliance forms is beneficial for California-based roles.
