Job description

Web Developer - Department of State
The Position:
We are seeking driven, thoughtful candidates with experience in impact/performance assessments and data visualization to support impactful initiatives for our Federal clients at the U.S. Department of State (DOS).
As a Web Developer with Censeo, you will support public-facing reporting for a key Department of State program. You will work closely with DOS teams to develop dashboards and manage public engagement for a flagship Department program. 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop an interactive web-based dashboard modeled after NERDE and StatsAmerica to visualize economic impact data of a federal visitor exchange program
  • Ensure the website is public-facing, user-friendly, and updated annually
  • Develop and display state-by-state, industry-specific, and overall economic impact maps
  • Provide downloadable customized reports, charts, and infographics for policymakers and the public
  • Display benchmarks against global exchange program economic contributions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop realistic, innovative solutions to complex challenges
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly through written reports and presentations
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, proactively identifying and mitigating delivery risks

  • BA/BS required; Master’s or PhD preferred in Economics, Applied Economics, Computer Science, or a closely related field
  • 5-10+ years of experience developing public-facing data products, dashboards, or analytic websites for federal agencies or similar sized organizations
  • Familiarity with data visualization and mapping tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, D3.js, GIS platforms) and front‑end web technologies
  • Proven experience delivering public‑facing analytical products to produce clear summary reporting for various audiences using analytics platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent
  • Ability to develop and maintain interactive dashboards that are scalable, intuitive for non-technical users, and updated regularly
  • Experience supporting or working directly with the U.S. Department of State or other international organization (preferred)
  • Experience in consulting, professional services, or federal government contracting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to synthesize complex information
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

And with many of our clients also based in D.C., we have the luxury of leaving for a meeting and being back in the office in time for post-work happy hours, team dinners, and game nights.
The Fine Print:
  • The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $140,000 depending on experience
  • Expected travel 0-10%; may increase based on business needs 
  • This is an exempt, full-time position
  • This role is subject to a hybrid work schedule
  • Essential Physical Functions
    • Sitting: Particularly for sustained periods of time
    • Light Carrying: Physically transporting items weighing less than 15 pounds from one location to another
