Company Description

The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan serves as a common solicitor, storehouse and distributor of food on behalf of its Partner Agencies which are non-profit, charitable organizations serving those in need.

Today the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan provides over 40 million pounds of food each year to those in need through more than 700 partner agencies. Partner Agencies consist of local soup kitchens, shelters, and food pantries who strive to feed the more than 300,000 people in eastern Michigan who are food insecure. The excellent relationships established within the Food Bank’s 22 county service area and throughout the state has allowed for numerous programs and initiatives to help fight hunger.

Job Description

The Program Coordinator will assist in the day-to-day operations of all state and federally funded programs. Coordinator is responsible for implementing CACFP food distribution programs. Must act as liaison between culinary staff, off-site FBEM staff and Program/Customer staff, and provide superior customer service to all internal team members and other stakeholders of the organization.
All activities will support the organization’s mission, culture and strategic plan objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

•Create and maintain a positive work environment in alignment with the Food Bank core values.
•Directly coordinate staff members within the operations of CACFP training and develop, coaching to ensure success of staff.
•Coordinate all administrative responsibilities and data entry for reimbursement programs (i.e., training, agency and program monitoring, paperwork, reimbursement)
•Assist in audits of CACFP
•Create annual monitoring plan to include a minimum of three random site visits per fiscal year, each unannounced, for each location with at least 5 months in between each visit
•Coordinate and analyze prospective program locations.
•Organize, coordinate, and maintain calendar and schedule necessary to site trainings.
•Check, screen, respond to and/or reroute community communications and feedback to all staff, and management.
•Provide input regarding processes and improvement of program.
•Collect, review, input and file data related to program attendance.
•Order and distribute supplies for program staff.
•Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

•Associate degree or equivalent required, Bachelors preferred and Food Safety Certification or the ability to certify.
•Must have a current valid driver’s license and good driving record.
•Must be familiar with assigned service area.

WORK EXPERINCE

•A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in an area of social services or related field or a combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

•Highly developed oral, written, and advanced communication skills.
•Must have a flexible schedule to accommodate corporate needs; regular attendance with some weekends will be required.
•High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office including Work, Excel and Outlook.
•Excellent prioritizing, planning and organizational skills.
•Ability to handle multiple priorities and work independently.
•Ability to work in partnership with other staff members.
•Must have attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills.
•Outstanding customer service skills that incorporate a cooperative and friendly attitude.
•Genuine appreciation of FBEM’s mission and the ability to communicate it.
•Sensitivity, tact, diplomacy and the ability to honor confidentiality.
•Ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds, experiences and personalities.


Additional Information

WORKING CONDITIONS

The employee will primarily work in a standard office environment and will regularly travel throughout Eastern Michigan to program sites, partner agencies, schools, and community locations.
