Job description

Encorus Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) / Senior NDE Technician II to join our growing inspection and nondestructive testing team. This role is ideal for a skilled inspection professional looking to take the next step in their career with opportunities for leadership, technical growth, and advancement within a collaborative engineering and testing environment. This position will be based out of our Rochester office with travel to client sites throughout the region.
In this role, you will perform and oversee a variety of structural steel, welding, and nondestructive testing inspections while serving as a technical resource to both clients and junior staff. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and doing the job right.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Perform and oversee structural steel, weld, special, and related field inspections, including both routine and complex assignments with minimal supervision.
โ€ข Conduct nondestructive examinations in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and approved procedures, including Visual Testing (VT), Liquid Penetrant (PT), Magnetic Particle (MT), Radiography (RT), and Ultrasonic Testing (UT).
โ€ข Perform Certified Welding Inspection (CWI) duties in accordance with AWS codes and project specifications.
โ€ข Interpret customer specifications, engineering drawings, and inspection codes to ensure examinations meet required acceptance criteria.
โ€ข Ensure testing procedures are properly followed, equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly, and results are accurately documented.
โ€ข Prepare, review, and analyze detailed inspection reports, calculations, and supporting documentation.
โ€ข Serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior inspectors and technicians.
โ€ข Communicate inspection findings and technical concerns clearly with project managers, engineers, contractors, regulatory agencies, and clients.
โ€ข Maintain accurate records and documentation using standard computer software and reporting systems.
โ€ข Support safe work practices, PPE compliance, and company health and safety policies at all times.
โ€ข Assist with additional field testing, confined space entry inspections, and support functions for other company divisions as needed.
Requirements:
โ€ข 5+ years of experience in nondestructive testing, welding inspection, or related inspection services.
โ€ข Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
โ€ข High School diploma or equivalent required.
โ€ข Level II certifications in RT, PT, MT, VT, or UT are preferred.
โ€ข Ability to document required training and discipline hours for certifications held.
โ€ข Strong understanding of nondestructive testing methods, welding inspection procedures, applicable codes, and safety practices.
โ€ข Ability to work independently in both field and laboratory environments.
โ€ข Excellent communication, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.
โ€ข Ability to mentor junior staff and provide technical leadership.
โ€ข Valid driverโ€™s license with the ability to travel to field sites, including in inclement weather conditions.
โ€ข Ability to comply with company drug testing and background check requirements.
Pay Range:
The pay range for this position is $27.00 to $38.00/hr. Actual compensation will be based on the candidateโ€™s knowledge, skills, certifications, and experience.
