We are continuously seeking HVAC professionals for current and future opportunities across our seven operating companies. Positions may be available in installation, maintenance, service, and support roles across commercial and industrial environments.
About the Opportunity
We are building a talent pool of highly skilled and motivated HVAC professionals, including Technicians, Apprentices, Pre-Apprentices, and Helpers. We are seeking individuals committed to safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems in commercial and industrial settings. Your expertise will ensure the efficient operation of our clients' critical systems.

Key Responsibilities
Installation & System Setup (30%)
  • Install commercial/industrial HVAC or plumbing systems and components according to specifications and codes.
  • Read blueprints, technical diagrams, and specifications; and ensure systems are compliant with building codes, safety standards.
  • Lay out, assemble, and connect ductwork, piping, and electrical wiring.
  • Ensure systems meet all safety and performance standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of installations.

Maintenance (30%)
  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or control issues in boilers, chillers, or HVAC systems.
  • Inspect and test system components, including motors, compressors, and controls.
  • Clean and adjust system components as needed.
  • Document all maintenance activities.

Repair (20%)
  • Repair or replace defective parts and components.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Restore systems to proper working order efficiently and effectively.
  • Respond to service calls, perform timely repairs, and provide emergency services as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding repairs.

Safety, Quality & Compliance (10%)
  • Always follow safety protocols and site-specific requirements
  • Ensure tools, PPE, and equipment are used correctly and safely
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and quality checks

Collaboration & Training (10%)
  • Work as part of a field crew or team under direction of senior technicians or forepersons
  • Support apprentices or junior team members as needed
  • Attend regular training sessions and union upgrade courses

Qualifications:
  • Enrollment in or completion of a recognized HVAC apprenticeship or technical program (for Apprentices and Pre-Apprentices)
  • 1+ years of experience in commercial/industrial HVAC (for Apprentices and Technicians)
  • Valid driver's license (as needed for specific roles)
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification (preferred)
  • EPA Section 608 certification (for roles requiring refrigerant handling)
  • Local union membership or eligibility to join a relevant union
  • Strong commitment to union values, safety regulations, and best practices
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites within the DC, MD, and VA area

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods
  • Ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces and extreme weather conditions
