Job description

MD/DO - Adult and Pediatric Functional Medicine and Direct Primary Care

About Sanctuary Functional Medicine
Our primary mission is to serve mankind by restoring a multitude of chronically ill so that they may live healthier, more abundant lives as well as help maintain health in those who recover or were never initially ill. We carry this out by providing Intensive Outpatient Care, Semi-Intensive Care, or Direct Primary Care to meet the individual's specific needs and preferences.
Behind the scenes, our mission is also to train a multitude of providers to provide this care through a fellowship type model with a long term goal of a Functional Medicine Institute. For those entering the functional medicine world, this supervision under Dr. Potter allows less experienced providers to gain both didactic exposure and hands-on training in Functional Medicine.
Our functional medicine training offers the best of natural and conventional medicine outside the broken insurance and Big Medicine system. As a care provider, you will begin and end each day energized by the fact that you are part of a solution to help people regain their health and maintain it.
Opportunity:
Opportunity: We are looking for a board-certified MD or DO who is passionate about functional medicine. Med-Peds or Family Medicine are preferable. Your objective after initial orientation and training will be to work alongside our current Intensive Care providers under Dr. Potter 2 1/2 days per week and 2 1/2 days per week in our Direct Primary Care clinic, building a small patient panel.
This is a unique opportunity for a practitioner pursuing a career in functional medicine to establish their career under Sanctuary's umbrella with the extensive support of Sanctuary's team, including Dr. Potter’s mentorship. Enjoy a career that is cutting-edge but also truly rewarding in an environment where patients really do appreciate what you do for them.
Background of our Intensive Program
In our intensive program, we see patients who have complex cases such as CIRS, mold toxicity, Lyme disease, autoimmune disorders, mast cell activation, hormone dysfunction, PANS/PANDAS, cardiovascular disease, leaky gut, SIBO, Type II Diabetes, and much more. You can be their ongoing provider, keeping them thriving for years to come.
If this position caught your eye, send us your resume and, even better, send along a cover letter with specific reasons as to why this position would be a great fit.
Position Summary:
  • See patients in-person and virtually using the technology platform provided by the practice.
  • Provide excellent, personalized patient care consistent with practice standards.
  • Order, read, and interpret complex labs to provide custom recommendations.
  • Diagnose conditions and direct patients’ personalized care plans.
  • Complete online charts in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prescribe and manage thyroid, BHRT, and other medications.
  • Prescribe and manage nutritional plans for patients in concert with our functional dietician.
  • Educate and inspire patients and their family members on their health.
  • Participates in treatment team meetings to contribute interventions and assessment results to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Support other providers in clinical/treatment research and other client care needs.
  • Manage patient treatment plans: monitor progress, answer questions, follow up, address issues, etc.
  • Provide whole-person emotional support as appropriate and refer for further mental health needs as appropriate.
  • Work under the mentorship of Dr. Potter.
  • Provide mentorship to non-physician staff.
  • Participate in patient care program development.
  • Follow organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Represent Sanctuary Functional Medicine in the local and broader community.
  • Willing and able to learn about leading-edge therapies.

Required Qualifications:
License/Certification:
  • MD or DO license.
  • Board certification (or eligible) in internal medicine, family medicine, or Med-Peds.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Desire to thrive in old-fashioned relational medicine with a high-growth, high-tech, close-knit work environment.
  • Passion for your personal health and wellness, and that of others.

We are seeking physicians to work full-time hours, but are open to a 3-day work week of 24-30 hours.
As a full-time Physician, you will generally have six to seven hours of patient care per day, four days per week, with one day reserved for lab review, additional patient communication, and the chance to work on other projects like health outcomes research and collaborating with Dr. Potter and the leadership team on how to successfully grow our institute model.
Benefits and Compensation:
  • Salary: Negotiable based on clinical and functional medicine experience.
  • Starting 2 weeks of paid time off plus CME time off. Increases with years on the team.
  • Annual professional development stipend - $2000 per year.
  • Equity: Future Negotiable.
  • Dental and Vision Insurance.
  • This is not an ABIM-approved Fellowship, but will include your certification in IFM or A4M program.

Sanctuary Functional Medicine is committed to providing an equitable, fair, and transparent compensation program for all employees.
