Job description

Your voice and relationship-building skills can help families stay connected and create real pathways to reentry.

LoopRoots Foundation is seeking a compassionate, proactive Volunteer Outreach Specialist to serve as a bridge between justice-impacted families and the resources they need. You'll help expand awareness, build partnerships, and ensure individuals feel seen, supported, and empowered.

If you're a people-person who believes in second chances and community care, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

    • Connect families and returning citizens with LoopRoots programs and services
    • Represent the organization at community events, resource fairs, and partner meetings
    • Build relationships with local organizations, advocates, and service providers
    • Support outreach campaigns (calls, emails, social, and in-person engagement)
    • Help distribute resources, gather feedback, and track community needs
    • Assist with event coordination and volunteer engagement

Key Benefits of Volunteering

Professional & Personal Development

    • Direct mentorship from the Founder & CEO, executive, and outreach teams
    • Hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, communications, and leadership coordination
    • Portfolio credit for campaigns, press releases, and media placements
    • Career advancement potential with opportunity to transition into a paid role
    • Professional references and letter of recommendation
    • Skill building in empathy, public speaking, organizing, and event support
    • Training provided for outreach tools, messaging, and best practices

Community & Social Impact

    • Direct community impact helping break cycles of isolation and incarceration
    • Support families staying connected to incarcerated loved ones and accessing mental health care
    • Strengthen neighborhoods by building meaningful, trusted relationships
    • Advocacy opportunities as an ambassador for justice-impacted communities

You're a Great Fit If You Have

    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
    • Comfort speaking with diverse groups and community partners
    • Experience or interest in community organizing, social services, or advocacy
    • Empathy, reliability, and cultural humility
    • 5–10 hours/week availability (flexible; some events may be in-person or virtual)

Why Your Work Matters

One conversation can connect a family to transportation, mental health support, or reentry resources. One relationship can change a life. Your outreach creates access — and access creates opportunity.
