Job description

Job Announcement Are you passionate about technology, customer service, and solving complex IT challenges. The Fairfax County Department of Information Technology is seeking an Enterprise IT Technician to join the Customer Experience Division-a collaborative team dedicated to delivering exceptional technology support across the County. This is a cross-functional technical support position designed to provide flexibility across multiple customer-facing technology services.

While the primary assignment will support the Mobility Services team, this position will also assist other Customer Experience teams as operational priorities evolve, including the Enterprise Service Desk, PC Lifecycle Program, Video Teleconferencing (VTC), Multifunction Devices (MFD), and other enterprise support initiatives. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule; however, candidates should expect to work primarily onsite. Because the role provides hands-on technical support across multiple Customer Experience teams, regular in-person attendance is an essential function of the position.

Employment Standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the following: High school diploma or GED ; plus four years relevant experience; or IT job-related course work from an accredited college or trade school in computer science, computer information systems, data processing, information management or a closely related field is preferred. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Strong knowledge and experience providing technical support for desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, or other enterprise IT hardware and software in a Microsoft enterprise environment.

Experience supporting mobile devices, including iOS (iPhone and iPad) including provisioning, configuration, troubleshooting, or lifecycle management. Experience with ServiceNow, including ticket lifecycle management and trend analysis Experience providing direct customer support in an IT help desk, technical support, or customer-facing technology environment. Experience troubleshooting Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems and multifunction devices (MFDs) Working knowledge of enterprise asset management practices Experience with AI-assisted service desk tools and automated troubleshooting solutions Strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is generally active and performed in a dynamic office and field environment.

The position requires the ability to lift and transport computers and peripheral equipment during installations, moves, and replacements. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations. SELECTION PROCEDURE: Panel interview and may include exercise.
