Arthrex is a global medical device company and a recognized leader in orthopedic new product development and medical education. Arthrex is seeking a Business Systems Analyst II - CAD Change Analyst to work closely with PLM administrators within Engineering IT. The CAD Change Analyst II provides administrative oversight, governance, and quality assurance for CAD-related engineering changes within Windchill PLM in a multi-CAD environment. This role focuses on reviewing and validating CAD data quality, with primary responsibility for using CAD model checker and validation tools to identify discrepancies between CAD models and drawings, uncover non-compliant or poor modeling practices, and ensure adherence to enterprise CAD standards. Additionally, this role supports continuous improvement efforts and helps educate Engineering teams on CAD standards, modeling discipline, and PLM expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Use CAD model checker and validation tools to review CAD models and drawings created by engineers for compliance with established modeling and drafting standards.
  • Identify discrepancies between 3D models and 2D drawings, including dimensional mismatches, missing features, annotation errors, configuration inconsistencies, and revision misalignment.
  • Detect and document bad or non-standard modeling practices, such as improper feature construction, unstable geometry, excessive dependencies, poor parametric structure, or non-compliant templates.
  • Review CAD data produced in Creo, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD to ensure modeling discipline, drawing accuracy, and standards adherence.
  • Provide clear, actionable feedback to engineering teams regarding required corrections or improvements-without directly editing CAD data.
  • Support oversight of a multi-CAD environment, ensuring consistency and quality across Creo, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD platforms.
  • Identify risks associated with mixed CAD usage, including translation errors, reference integrity issues, and drawing/model synchronization problems.
  • Partner with CAD and engineering leadership to address systemic modeling and standards issues
  • Analyze recurring CAD quality issues and recommend process improvements, standards updates, or targeted training.
  • Develop or support checklists, work instructions, reference guides, and training materials related to CAD quality and PLM compliance.
  • Contribute to increasing overall CAD and change management maturity across the organization.

Education and Experience:
  • 2-5 years of experience in CAD governance, engineering change oversight, CAD quality assurance, or PLM-supported product development.
  • Experience working in a PLM environment a plus, preferably Windchill, in a review, oversight, or data quality capacity.
  • Experience supporting engineering teams in a multi-CAD environment preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline required.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
  • Strong familiarity with Creo, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD sufficient to review models and drawings
  • Hands-on experience using CAD model checker or validation tools to evaluate modeling and drafting compliance
  • Deep understanding of good vs. poor modeling practices, parametric design principles, and stable model construction
  • Ability to interpret drawings and models for design intent, manufacturability, and downstream impact
  • Knowledge of CAD drafting and modeling standards (e.g., ASME Y14 or equivalent)
  • Engineering change control and configuration management principles
  • Windchill concepts including change objects, versioning, lifecycles, traceability, and data relationships
  • Understanding of CAD-to-BOM and document relationships within PLM
  • Ability to identify systemic CAD quality issues and drive continuous improvement
  • Experience educating engineers on standards, best practices, and quality expectations
  • Comfortable influencing behavior and improving outcomes without direct authority
  • CAD standards governance or model quality training
  • Windchill or PLM advanced user training
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or formal continuous improvement training
  • Experience supporting regulated product environments (e.g., medical device, aerospace)

Additional Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain and periodically update CAD quality checklists, validation criteria, and review templates used during model and drawing assessments.
  • Support administration and upkeep of CAD model checker configurations, including rule sets, thresholds, and reporting outputs, in coordination with CAD leadership.
  • Assist with metrics tracking and reporting related to CAD quality trends, common discrepancies, modeling deficiencies, and repeat findings.
  • Participate in cross-functional reviews (design reviews, readiness reviews, release readiness) to provide CAD quality and standards perspective.
  • Serve as backup support for PLM administrative activities related to change tracking, audits, or data quality initiatives during peak workload periods.
  • Support onboarding of new engineers by reinforcing CAD standards expectations, quality practices, and PLM workflows.
  • Collaborate with CAD, PDM, and Engineering teams to evaluate the effectiveness of new CAD tools, checker rules, or quality enhancements.
  • Assist with standard operating procedure (SOP) updates related to CAD governance, model quality, and engineering change workflows.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests for CAD quality assessments, discrepancy investigations, or root cause analysis related to downstream issues.
  • Contribute to special projects focused on CAD process maturity, standardization, or digital thread improvements.
