Job description

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa Subsidiary, is searching for a non-plate buyer to support our Clinton, IL, Fort Worth, TX, and Tulsa, OK plants. In this role, the Buyer will perform supply chain and logistics functions for the plants listed, which may include, but are not limited to, material procurement, production planning, inventory control, outsourcing, vendor selection, and distribution. The Buyer will also be responsible for creating integrated processes among internal functions such as operations, purchasing, and logistics and outside suppliers.

Meyer Utility Structures is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete, lattice, and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications.
What you'll do:
  • Coordinate incoming movement of hardware, fasteners, structural components, and delivery services to ensure material availability and delivery when needed to meet production schedules
  • Compile data on order volume, production schedules, and forecasts and apply statistical methods to estimate future materials requirements
  • Negotiate favorable terms and volume discounts with approved suppliers; prepare and process purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services, and supplies for customer-related business processes or for internal use as a generalist or in a combination of Purchasing Disciplines
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor inbound movement of materials from suppliers, with emphasis on import/export logistics and documentation
  • Determine material requirements and coordinate the efficient movement of materials with purchasing, production, and engineering
  • Coordinate information and activities with other team members
  • May coordinate or exchange information with third parties, vendors, or customers

What You'll Need:
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of procurement experience required
  • Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing experience preferred
  • Experience in purchasing steel is preferred but not required
